I went to a wedding at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and it was absolutely beautiful.  The ceremony was supposed to be outside by a waterfountain but it happened to be bad weather so they did everything inside but it was still absolutely gorgeous.  The food was delicious as well.  Everything was held there the ceremony, cocktail hour and the reception.  Not sure how much it cost but maybe you could look into it.

@alagerst:  We are getting married at Deity in Brooklyn…a former synagogue on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill turned into a beautiful event venue, affordable especially for Friday and Sunday weddings, and very pleasant owners.

Both the Boathouse and the Picnic House in Prospect Park are beautiful and have the capacity you need, and are in your budget.

BBG is also beautiful, although a bit more expensive, it might make the cutoff. The only thing I have against them is the captive caterer.

The Green Building in Gowanus is very nice and not pricey.

@mrs_sweetteach:  I got pricing from Diety and thought it was very reasonable too.  Have you ever had the food there? What set up are you doing for your wedding (ie seated dinner, or cocktail reception)?  Thanks!!!

If you are pricing on food and booze only (excl music, flowers etc), then Brooklyn Winery and Galapagos are in your range. my wedding was 3 weeks ago and I have loads of recs for BK vendors.

The green building is pretty expensive- 12k minimum without food or booze. I would call that pricey

@bkrocks13:  Hey there! I’m curious about the pricing you mentioned for the Green Building. The site rental alone was $12K??? that sounds off from what I’ve been reading. Just curious. I’m looking for venues in Brooklyn and Queens for Fall 2014 and really trying to stay under $25K for venue with rental, booze and food. I’m having around 100 people. I’m looking into a lot of the “DIY” type venues like Green Building, Metropolitan Building etc. I’ve found a few places, and I thought Greeen Building was still a valid choice for us. Even the Foundry is under $12K for rental and that’s on the high end of DIY type places.

@daniellis:  My best friend was going to have her wedding at The Green Building- she actually booked it and signed the contract, paid the deposit and everything (she ended up cancelling her wedding and losing her deposit.) She is the one that told me it was $1k an hour with a 12 hour minimum, not including food or drinks.  They might have supplied tables and chairs, not sure.  I think she alsohad to choose from specific vendors they work with for catering and whatnot, not sure. She had a difficult time finding reasonably priced food/drink vendors, I do remember that.

@daniellis:  Also our venue is going to be just under 25k for the space, food and complete open bar however we are NOT having a sit-down meal (we are doing heavy hors d’oeuvres.) We’re buying out our space for 5 hours for 100pp for that price.

@bkrocks13:  thanks for the info and reply! your wedding- that sounds PERFECT! did I miss where you are having yours? I am also NOT even considering a sit down dinner. we are doing heavy passed hors d’oeuvres too. we go some great quotes from good catererers that specialize in cocktail receptions with heavy hors d’oeuvres and open bar including signature cocktails, passed sweets, table/linen rentals, staff etc. for around $13-$14K and then places with $3-$7K rental fees. Fancy Girl Table quoted us nice prices and set ups and is famliar with DIY spaces. It seems like the Metropolitan Building has a better deal than the Green Building…but I am just starting my venue search. I just picked out my ring, so we are just beginning this whole process.

@daniellis:  Great minds think alike 😉

We actually bought out Clover Club for the evening- we are holding the wedding from 7-midnight. 15k includes the venue, servers, bartenders, a hostess and a manager there, plus everything in the restaurant so all the tables and chairs and everything, as well as their entire open bar with all cocktails, wines by the glass, beers and liquors (they are removing 18 total bottles which retail for over $200 a bottle. Those won’t be included.) Theyre also going to do a little bit of decorating (some fresh flowers and stuff.)  The 15k does not include food- they do a la carte passed items, so we’re estimating about another 5k for food (stationary and passed) and we are bringing desert since they don’t serve it (although they are plating it for no extra charge.)

Even more awesomely, they are closing after brunch so we have access to the space starting at 4pm, so my DOC can go in and set up our guestbook and stuff.  We are having a very non-weddingy wedding- it’s more like a kickin party.  We are using an ipod but they do periodically have a jazz band so they can accommodate that (but probably not with 100pp.)

I’m so excited! We LOVE CC and it’s been consistantly rated as one of the best cocktail bars in the country and in the world and we are both big into the cocktail scene in nyc and nationally, so a lot of our guests are super blown away that we’re having it there. Plus its a beautiful space!

@bkrocks13:  I love Clover Club! We did our engagement photos there and came out with some awesome shots. Your wedding sounds seriously amazing. Open bar at CC? Plus their delicious food? I would die and go to heaven. Congrats! I’m sure you and your guests will have an amazing time!

@bkrocks13:  WOW!!! GORGEOUS!!! Thank you so much for posting and sharing. That sounds great..except for the band issue. We have many musician friends and family, and were set on a band- Jazz for beginning of party and then full band later. We might have a few musician guests want to sing or play or both. Not sure we could or would want to give that up. We are looking at Music Hall of Williamsburg which fits our budget too and of course has band stage. We are doing 5 hours of passed food and sweets also, and would be more than willing to bring in caterer, since we’ve found a few that do a great deal, and are willing to do with or without booze. Some places have a bar package, like Music Hall but no food. I think we may come in at just over 100 people, so I’ll have to think about it, but will definitely check it out. We are definitely doing a non-weddingy wedding and looking to have a blast and nothing overly formal.

Thanks again! LOVE this site and all you NYC Bees. 🙂 I see your wedding is soon- I hope to chat with you again, but if not, best of luck for a wonderful marriage and life.
