So I have been engaged for about 4 months now and have been putting off planning the wedding because frankly my fiance and I agree that spending anything over 15K is out of the question. We are currently in Brooklyn, NY and are open to the outer boroughs. Any suggestions on a reception site that will come in under our budget. Thanks!
**and by under I mean food, alcohol, rentals, staff, gratuity, service charge and tax included.**

It will probably depend on your guest count. If it’s smaller I’d suggest some restaurant spaces in Dumbo (Galapagos Art Space, Rebar). Also try looking at spaces that have rentals and things already onsite.

You should check out bay ridge manor and Gennaro’s. Gennaro’s has a package deal thing.

My husband and I got married in Williamsburg in October in the most gorgeous space. Depending on how many guests you’re looking at inviting/expecting, I would say check out MyMoon and speak with Kenan. He is AMAZING and so, so sweet and VERY accomodating. We had a $20k budget for 150 people (thats flowers, dress, gifts, food, rehearsal dinner, etc.) and Kenan was very accomodating to that. My guests are STILL talking about MyMoon and it’s food, atmosphere, uniqueness. Also look into ReBar in DUMBO. Jason Stevens is the owner and he and his space and staff are FANTASTIC!! We had our rehearsal dinner there in a private room and all our guests were RAVING about what a cool space it was and how delicious the food was.
Oh, I should mention that both places shut down the entire space for private parties.

@heather25: We just got married there. I should probably post a few pics of it all gussied up; it looked so pretty. We LOVED it and so did our guests we cannot speak of them highly enough. I cannot wait to get back there for dinner or Sunday brunch. YUM!!

Congrats fellow NYC bee! I don’t have any specifics for you, but I’d recommend you look into venues in Long Island, Westchester, and New Jersey. They are going to be cheaper and get you more for your money. That’s what Fiance and I decided to do. I’d LOVE an NYC wedding but I can’t justify that kind of money just for the city. Also – I’d hate to make my guests pay NYC hotels, parking lots, etc.
Just a thought. Good luck!!

Hey — I was wondering if you could tell me a little about your experience at MyMoon. My fiance and I LOVE the space, Kenan, the food, the outdoor areas, the vibe, everything BUT we are trying to get a feel for how the transition from dinner/tables to dancing goes. Do they make an announcement that everyone must get up so they can move all the tables? Did you have a sit-down or buffet? We are thinking of a sit-down for 120 people, most in the big room with about 20 in the side/back room. Any tips?
Thanks so much!
