Sounds lovely to me! I mean, why not? As for decor, I’m thinking something with lots of paper, maybe little flags that sort of thing. And of course, orange roses.

You can use any color combo you want any time of the year. Even Mother Nature is proof of that. The whole idea that certain colors are only acceptable at certain times of the year is a man-made “rule” that does not need to be perpetuated.

Have you looked at dahlias? They come in so many colors and shapes. There are a lot in the orange family and even some that could qualify as “chocolate”:

I think those colors will look great and definitely fit the old train depot setting of your venue!  I say that if that’s the colors you want, then use them!  If you love them, who cares what time of the year it is.

Definitely find a new caterer asap who knows what they are talking about. What exactly are they saying is nonexistent that time of year? Caterers don’t work with anything involving colors, except linens which are available in all colors year round, so their argument is moot to begin with.

My September 5th wedding was basically this color scheme and was not fall themed at all! My flowers were white roses with green and orange hypericum berries. My bridesmaids had yellow-orange roses with green hypericum berries. Here are a few pictures.

Our centerpieces were peaches (the fruit) in glass vases and that was a great summery touch that everyone liked. It was also fun to allow people to take peaches home with them!

I may end up doing the same thing around the same time – maybe use a softer orange, like something apricot instead of ORANGE. If you decide to go with ORANGE, then use summer fruits like oranges, peaches, nectarines; these will all give you that pop of color you want. For the brown tones, think chocolate, nuts, and coffee (iced, of course lol).  Marigolds, Birds of Paradise ($$$), and all types of daisies have the colors you are looking for. Think “summer” and you’ll be alright.

I too am doing chocolate brown and champagne as the colors for my July 7th wedding. I was nervous at first too about the dark hue but decided that since we both like, who cares?! You’re using orange as a nice bright pop of color with your flowers and I think that will look very nice. I am using a bright summer mix for my flowers to pop off the brown. Good Luck!
