I had menstrual cramps with both pregnancies for the first few weeks, it freaked me out but everything was fine. I did also have spotting and low progesterone and was on supplements. If the spotting continues it wouldn’t hurt to push for bloodwork. Progesterone supplements are not guaranteed to sustain a pregnancy but for me it definitely made a difference, as long as the hcg was rising appropriately.

mrsm42712:  Hi there, just wanted to say that I’m going through something very similiar. I’m 5 weeks/2 days today and have been spotting brown since exactly 4 weeks (the day AF was due). I only notice it when I wipe. I called my doctor (I freaked out, as I had a MMC back in September), had my hcg levels checked and they have doubled…which is good but still my doctor didn’t exactly 100% reassure me. My doctor discourages testing for progesterone as she says there is nothing that can be done if my levels are found to be low (which is contradicting to what a lot of people have told me). She told me that it could be completely normal early pregnancy spotting..which a lot of women go through and end up having a healthy pregnancy …but of course she also told me it could be an indication that the pregnancy isn’t viable or a sign of ectopic. She told me to watch out for severe cramps and/or bright red or heavy blood. She booked me in for an early scan this Wednesday. I’m driving myself crazy with worry. Hope you are doing ok!

I have a month old baby now and I had brown spotting throughout the first trimester. I remember bawling several times because every time I thought it was the beginning of my pregnancy ending. Turns out it was totally fine. I had spotting at weeks 4,6,7,9 and 11 (I recorded it on my fertility friend account). I hope your scan goes well! I had cramping too throughout the first trimester. My doctor didn’t seem at all phased by my cramping and spotting, I didn’t get an ultrasound or any tests done. I did pay for my own ultrasound to hear/see the heartbeat for peace of mind at 9 weeks

I had menstrual cramps until 8 weeks and brown spotting around that time, too. It’s perfectly normal because there’s a lot going on down there, especially if it’s your first pregnancy. Your body is doing things it’s never done before. I’m now 29 weeks along and baby is textbook healthy and super strong. I know it’s hard but try not to drive yourself too crazy!

mrsm42712:  I had brown spotting around four weeks and I was sure I was getting my period.  I am now 12 weeks.  I hope this can help you feel reassured.  I freaked out at the time due to a previous MC and requested betas.  They were doubling and everything kept moving forward.  I also did request progesterone suppositories since they wouldn’t order a progesterone level.  I stopped spotting 2 days after starting the progesterone.  Prayers this is a sticky bean and just implantation bleeding!

mrsm42712:  Hey, how are you doing?

Unfortunately,  I don’t have good news. I had my scan today and they only see an empty sac, which is not what they want to see for a pregnancy that is about 5.5 weeks gestation. Of course I’ve had zero spotting for 4 days now, The doctor thinks that there is a possibility that maybe I ovulated late (which I don’t believe AT ALL since I was using opks) and so he wants me back on the 28th to have another scan, before making any decisions. But I know in my heart that it’s over. I hope that you have better news to share.

mrsm42712:   Ugh I’m so sorry you have to wait till Friday now! I hope you can keep yourself distracted so time can fly by. I just got a call that they are able to get me in on the 23rd, 1 week from today, so I’m glad I’ll have answers before Christmas.
