I think the black tuxes are a better option than brown tuxes, personally. Black and brown look beautiful together! They are all neutrals. Black is a really classic look. With brown, I think you run the risk of looking dated really fast—sort of like the blue ruffley tuxes of our parents’ generation. What do you think of black tuxes with the truffle vests and pink ties?

I personally don’t think that brown tuxes would look dated.  Although I guess it depends on what kind of tux you’re getting.  We’re going for the pronto uomo brown tux from Men’s Wearhouse and we have brown bridesmaid dresses.

Black tuxes are classic, but I personally just don’t like the way they look with brown dresses.  that’s a personal opinion though.

My fiance just got fitted for a brown tux for his best friend’s wedding in November. The bridesmaids are wearing brown dresses. I can try to take some pictures and get them to you. I think there is a chance of them looking a little too matchy. Maybe someone else already has some pictures out there where it looks great though.

Just to clarify, I don’t think it will look dated now. It would probably look really cool and trendy right now to have brown tuxes. Men’s dress fashion is so inherently conservative–the styles change so little and so slowly that if you go with something outside the norm, it’s very noticeable and might end-up time-stamped later. But there are worse fates than looking time-stamped or dated. My parents’ wedding photos are sooo 1969 but I love them :).

My bridesmaids are wearing mocha dresses and we chose a khaki-colored tux.   I don’t think brown is dated.

I think I would go with black to avoid everything being very monochromatic.

I blogged about this exact same delimma here  and here with several pictures of both brown and black tuxes.

It sounds like we’re doing something very similar – we’re going for the black tux and brown vest/tie combo. It looked much classier in the end, at least that’s what we think!

My colors are chocolate brownand champagne with bright accent colors for flowers etc… I am personally not a big fan of brown tuxes.

I originally wanted the guys to wear Khaki suits, but fiance did not like the idea. Next I thought that the guys could wear black tuxes with brown vests. I have seen pics of this on the boards and it looks great, but my fiance also did not like this option, lol

So, I think we have agreed that the guys will wear black tuxes with champagne vests/ties. My girls will be in chocolate brown dresses with light gold shoes. I will try to get a bit of chocolate brown into the guys bouts.
