I’m going to tell you my personal experience:

I answered that I hate Uggs and leggings. Black tights are ok under skirts/dresses, and I’m ok with leggings under a skirt, but leggings =/= pants.

That being said, I have itty bitty feet and huge calves, so I do own a pair of Ugg style boots (they’re Bear Paw brand, but same idea) that I wear as snow boots. They’re seriously the only thing I can find to fit my calves. I don’t like them style-wise, but they’re functional and keep my feet dry and warm.

They are brown, and I have been known to wear them with black tights and a skirt to get me through the snow. However, I change into heels when I get inside a building.

    Just my thoughts.

My answer is biased, aw hell no. I hate mixing black and brown. I just can’t do it, odd, but when other people do it, I don’t mind, but I can never wear brown and black like that.

depends which color uggs. if it’s the light brownish color, then yes!

    if it’s chocolate brown… that’s a little iffy.

but i’m not fan of matching anyways.

@Phofe2774: I am the same way! I refuse to wear black and brown together but then I see other people wearing it and its fine *shrugs*

Of course do it! Uggs are warm, and leggings are practical in this weather!  I can’t afford to have multiple Ugg boots, so I mix and match brown and black in winter… especially with wearing so many layers, colors are going to be all mixed up somewhere!  Do it!!

@tinylittlebird: Agreed! I think there needs to be a Public Service Announcement on tv that leggings/tights ≠ pants. The girl in the library was wearing straight up tights the other day, and a sweater, not a sweater dress. You could entirely see her tuchus. I was so tempted to ask if she forgot her pants/skirt/ANYTHING! And to answer the original Q, I think the light, light brown with black is ok-ish, but not chocolate brown.

I say yes! I dont own uggs but I have muk luks and coach boots that kind of look like them.  I wear heels almost eveyday but every blue moon I’ll where leggings with an oversized sweater and boots.  My boots are black and so are my leggings but I think both black and brown are neutrals.  I see nothing wrong with it at all.

I really have no idea, as we don’t get a chance to wear Uggs around here due to weather so I can’t even picture them right now, but I do wear black leggings with my cowboy boots.  I’ve gotten many compliments on the outfits (dresses with leggings and the boots) so the brown/black combination can’t be that bad.  Can we see a picture of the outfit you’re thinking of?

I voted yes even though I hate uggs. I dont think uggs are very flattering at all but that is not the answer to your question. Brown and black (light brown that is) can definitely be worn together!

Brown and black and both neutrals. You can wear them together.

On “What Not To Wear” they frequently pair black and brown for a modern in-style look.

I have this outfit, love it!

I think the rule of not wearing black and brown is from the 90’s. I think it’s okay. I have chocolate brown uggs (and black uggs) and I wear them both with black tights.

If the uggs are a tan color then I think it would be fine. But if they are medium to dark brown then no.
