Hello! I am longtime lurker, but this is my first time posting. I hope I can get some outside insight for our menu.
My Fiance and I are having a morning ceremony followed by a brunch reception buffet style. Our menu consists of:
- Fresh fruit platter
- Assortment of breakfast breads & pastries
- Scrambled eggs
- Cottage fries
- Crisp bacon & breakfast sausage
- Lemon chicken with a white wine sauce
- Seasonal vegetables
- Four assorted salads
- Carving station – glazed ham
- Waffle bar with assorted toppings
- Dessert – wedding cake
- Beverages – coffee, tea, champagne, orange juice, & cranberry juice
We’re really happy with our menu. I, personally, love brunch so this is all up my street. My parents mentioned that the menu might be pork heavy with bacon, sausage, and glazed ham. Our venue can swap out the glazed ham for roast beef. Or, offer both (at an additional cost).
What do you bees think? Swap out the glazed ham for roast beef? Offer both? Keep menu as is?
Thanks for your help! Fiance and I keep going back and forth about this.

Hmmm… I was all set to answer “leave the ham- it’s more brunchy” but your ILs are right- it is pretty pork heavy. For that reason I’d go with the roast beef. No need to do both because you already have plenty of meat.

I agree with your parents that it seems pork heavy. I would switch out the ham for the roast beef. You could do both if you have the funds, but it looks like you will have tons of food the way it is.

I love brunch.
I would agree with your parents with it being pork heavy, but your menu sounds great!

I will eat ham before roast beef… and much prefer ham.
Do you have any jewish guests? That’d be who i would be most worried about in regards to having too much pork.

I love ham so much more than roast beef, but swapping it out makes sense to me.

I would only swap out the ham if you know that there are some guests who don’t eat pork. I associate pork with breakfast, so I would prefer the ham

Thank you for all of your help! After seeing your responses, I’m now leaning towards swapping the glazed ham for roast beef. We would have too much meat if we offer both. I also prefer glazed ham to roast beef as it seems more brunch-y to me. I’ll have to see what my Fiance thinks.
I’m not aware of any dietary restrictions, so I don’t think we could go wrong either way. I just want to make sure there’s some kind of balance to the menu and that it would be appealing to different people.
