- Wedding: June 2015 - Mulberry Art Studios
After being together for 8 years, we are finally engaged. I love my ring and am very happy. Now the planning starts, we are having destination wedding, only six people in our wedding party. Our total budget is $12,000-$15,000. Would that be sufficient? We will have anywhere from 30-50 guests.

my fi cousin had her wedding in bali a few years ago it cost her 15k for flights ( for her and he fi) accommodation for 4 weeks and the wedding, she planned everything herself, i guess it just depends on where you plan on having it and if you want all the bells and whistles

Hi @weaselbeans: first and foremost, I see you are NEW here… so a BIG Welcome to “the Hive”
In truth Destination Weddings can be all over the map (figuratively & literally)
A lot is going to depend on WHERE you have this event… both the Destination Location, as well as what type of venue.
How much research have you done in that regards… that is certainly how I’d start.
As a general rule of thumb things in a “true” Destination Setting are going to cost more (well quite frankly because a Resort for example, can charge more… just because they can)
$ 12 K to $ 15 K isn’t a HUGE budget at all, so depending on WHERE the Wedding is going to be you might have to do some “creative” work arounds.
(All in… Mr TTR & I spent close to $ 5000 for a 50 person Back Home Reception Party following our Elopement & Honeymoon … Cocktails & Hors d’Oeuvres – Cake & Champage – DJ & Dancing. We did it very informal, and didn’t have any real décor to speak of, and just a few “Wedding” like elements… Printed Invitations, Wedding Cake, Cake Topper, Champagne Toast, etc. And that was here in our home town… on the road somewhere, and I can guarantee you it would have cost more).
A Bridal Party also means expenses you will incur… Rehearsal Dinner – Plus Ones – Accommodations – Transportation – Attire Specialty Items – Thank You Gifts etc. So the bigger your BP the greater your costs.
Hope this helps,
