For your cake, try looking at grocery stores. They can actually customize them pretty nicely and for a wedding of 50 it wouldn’t be too expensive!

For invitations, I would definitely use Vistaprint. You can get everything you need for an invitation suite for under $100.

For flowers, try looking up pricing to DIY just bouquets for you and your girls and bouts for the guys. Then you could make something else your centerpieces (lanterns, books, vintage items, etc.)

You should also check out Kijiji for local steals! My best friend found 15 premade bouts from Michael’s on there for $25!

collinsbee:  Hey! I’m a budget bride in NYC. My total budget for everything (including honeymoon) is $10k.

I snagged a dress for $900. My dad got ordained online to be our officiant (free). He’s also a musician and is having his friends play for our ceremony (free). We’re getting married in a family backyard (free), and then going for a three-course sit down recption at a restaurant (MUCH cheaper than a “wedding venue”). We’re also getting married on a week day which has MASSIVELY cut our costs. Our photographer would normally start around $5k but he’s doing our wedding for $1,400 only because we’re getting married on an “off” day. We’re having a morning wedding with a lunch reception instead of dinner, that makes our food costs $47/per person instead of around $124/per person. We don’t have a bridal party, that means no flowers for bridesmaids, no wedding party gifts, etc. I also chose a restaurant reception location that’s already physically beautiful so I won’t be purchasing flowers or decor for the reception.

Good luck!

collinsbee:  I have a couple from her wedding (so the first one we did – blue and white flowers).  We spray painted the flowers blue the morning before the wedding, and then put the bouquets together the night before. I don’t have any of her centerpieces, which is too bad. For mine (yellow flowers), there was no spray painting, so we just did them the afternoon before the wedding. Boutenniers are actually pretty inexpensive, so for both of our weddings, we just ordered those through a flower shop. I bought 12 boutenniers (groom, four groomsmen, two ushers, two MC’s, three dads) for about $60 I think, so it was worth not trying to figure those out!!

Great score on your dress!

I second the idea of getting a local student photographer, they should still have a decent portfolio of photos to show you of their work.

if you don’t absolutely have your heart set on a cake you could do cupcakes and a small cake for the cutting ceremony?
