The Greycliff in Moonachi was insanely cheap, and Pantaigis Renaissance in Scotch Plains as well.

@kelena:

I was also looking at some wineries and breweries as venues so try looking there as well!

I would love a winery venue but some people in my family are very against alcohol. They’ll already be upset enough that there’s booze at the wedding

Just found out my favorite venue is 15% off on Sundays. There’s another way to cut costs!

@PetraArkanian:  I see this is a kind of recent post and wanted to ask — did you get married there after it changed to “Working Dog Winery”? I looked them up and found that they had changed names, and wanted to see if anybody had experience with the new owners/after the changes?

@missmonsterjeep:  No, I had no idea they changed the name!  It must be pretty recent, because we got married their about two months ago.  Based on the website everything else looks pretty much the same and it looks like it’s run by the same guys, so I wouldn’t guess too much has changed.

@kelena:  I say look  into Bank St. Annex in Easton, PA or Davids Country Inn in Hackettstown. We just booked Davids yesterday. Bank street was too big for our party but they are pretty inexpensive. Their prices range from $71-109 with Fri and Sun 10% discounts. They do not include a cake, but their prices include tax and tip which is great. The cool thing about it is your guests can stay right down the street at the Grand Eastonian and there bars right Round the corner for people to have an after party if they wish. I use to rent an apt. Up by Lafayette college and know the area it’s in a good part of town.

We booked Davids for August 2015 and it will be about $112 a head including tax, tip, cake from Palermo’s, flower centerpieces, and favors. We also can have a free shuttle with the hotels we do block rooms at. It’s so incredibly beautiful, I decided not to even visit any other venues besides Bank St which I already knew was too big for our wedding. We pretty much only went there to show my mom and Fiance as a comparison.

We live in Middlesex county, I couldn’t even touch venues here bc they either had ugly rooms, weren’t my style, or they were over $100 p/p plus tax and tip. Hope this helps.

hi! trying to plan a wedding from abroad (as im currently in hong kong) and would ideally like to do the NYC/NJ area, but from what i can tell.. it’s just too expensive. looking forward to hearing more from everyone! it’s really comforting to know that there are others out there who aren’t trying to spend $60k on a wedding!!!!!
