chyangra :  Brooklyn, NY bride here.. our catering cost came out to $55 per person, for an array of stations for cocktail hour— and buffet of pork, chicken, salmon with 4 sides. For an extra $2.50 they are will supply all glassware, silverware, and plates. Our venue allowed us to use any vendor of our choosing, and we can bring in our own alcohol.

chyangra :  Hey girl. I am in Canada, so Canadian prices here.

My package is $120pp. Which seems high. But it includes, full service premium 7 hour open bar with 2 signature cocktail and shots table for recieving if desired. As well as a 4 four plated dinner, serving of wedding cake and late night station.

I though the price was fantastic for everything they included, as most places were quoting me around $70-100 per plate not including a bar package. One place actually quoted me $120pp for just food and no bar! And the ‘food’ was salad, roasted chicken and wedding cake for dessert. Boo!

Without alcohol, we are paying ~$77 per person. We are having a cocktail style reception on a Sunday afternoon. Since we’re buying out a restaurant, we have a food & drink minimum that we have to meet. The cost of the food doesn’t really change because the same menu is offered on Friday or Saturday, those days just have a higher minimum. I am in the North Jersey/NYC area.

Where in the Chicago area are you? I’m in the western suburbs – Naperville area.

My brother is getting married in may at an American Legion in Carol Stream and their entire wedding – alcohol (they have an option to bring your own too) food and venue will be $5000. If you decide not to go with their alcohol it would be cheaper. You could check out some American Legions. Despite what you think, some of them are actually really pretty – like their venue has a redone hard wood floor, vaulted exposed wood beam ceilings and is in great condition with a gazebo and pont outside.

I’m in Toronto and everything wedding-related is super expensive here. We are getting quotes at approx. $100 per person for just food and staff. Keep in mind, I am having a wedding in a backyard and EVERYTHING needs to be rented in brought in, which means more set-up time for staff (tables, chairs, linens, dinnerware, etc.). The good news is, we buy our own alcohol so it is not marked up at all, and there are no cake cutting fees.

Without alcohol, ours was $170 per person (plus 33% in taxes and fees) in Chicago.

Ours is $77.50 for 4 passed appetizers during cocktail hour and a station + buffet during dinner.  But we’re getting a LOT for that price (during dinner there will be 4 different proteins available).  We looked at things that were cheaper but they didn’t have polish and presentation we were looking for so eventually we upped our budget.

We also live in Chicago but aren’t doing our wedding here because the prices here are INSANE for what you get, so we’re doing it in Puerto Rico instead.

Ours is $20/pp which includes a plated dinner (choice of lemon rosemary chicken, pork tenderloin, sweet potato crusted cod or vegetable neapolitan), fresh-baked rolls, plated salad, linens, plates, cutlery, glasses, staff, and rental of ballroom with setup/take down. Bar fees are additional. Dessert is additional. We are in Green Bay, WI.

Good luck!

WOW – It seems EVERY other state besides NY/ NJ is super cheap and so much more affordable. The prices over here are Ridiculous compared to what others have posted.

DC Metro area – rate was approx $135 per person including site, catering, gratuity, & taxes.  Our venue allowed us to bring our own alcohol to supply the open bar which was a major cost savings.
