Hi! Our budget is $12-13,000 for ~125 guests.  That seems like a ton of money to me, but man, it sure gets used up quickly.  Some of our cost-saving measures are:

    – Flowers: all DIY out of my parents’ huge garden.  Dahlias, zinnias, sunflowers, daisies – bright and colorful.  My parents also can so we will have a ton of mason jars for centerpieces, as well as some thrift store vases I’ve been picking up.

    – Band: our good friends’ awesome band usually charges $2500 but are doing it for $600 (rooms and gas)

    – Rehearsal dinner: we’re inviting everyone on the guest list to this “pre-party” but it’ll be a big BBQ with the elk my guy shot this fall

    – Drinks: just beer and wine instead of full open bar

    – Attire: my dress is either $120 or $275 – currently deciding between two.  His suit will be from JC Penney or the like, for $100 or so.

    – Gifts: we’re either having a small or non-existant wedding party, so we’ll save on gifts there.

    – Rings: I’m using an heirloom wedding band (my grandmother’s) – his will be $100.

    – Invites: save the date postcards from OvernightPrints for $60 including postage – probably Paperless Post (emailed) invites for free

    – Hair/makeup: I may just do DIY and/or recruit friends to help

    – Favors: We’re paying $80 for 100 customized koozies from totallyweddinkoozies.  I LOVE koozies! Otherwise we’d just skip favors

    – Officiant: friend = free

    – Photography: $2500

    – Venue: $3000 including rentals for the whole weekend

    – Catering: $22/head for yummy buffet plus desserts

$25k includes rings and honeymoon and ALL wedding related expenses. Just the wedding (no rings or honeymoon) $13k. So far weve stuck to the budget pretty well and everything is paid off except the last deposit of the honeymoon which is due in May (Honeymoon end of June).

our budget is tiny but so far we have payed out about £350 on clothes and the registry ofice plus legal paper work. My dress was a gift from my mum plus a budget buy at £160. our wedding night hotel is again n amzing gift for my best friend. We will have to pay out for my wedding flowers on the day before when I pick them, maybe a ring for me  but nothing massive and a meal for our 4 guests but I think it should total ….£550-£600 for the wedding and £380 worth of gifts eg dress and hotel.

We are having a party when we return home which will be bring a picnic style, so we arenlaying on puddings some soft drinks and some home made wine and beer. the Budget for that is £150  inculeding invites and decoration which I am diying and flowers seed which i will plant out in the area of the party this month to brighten it all up.

In total it will come to £750 plus our two fab gifts.

We have cut out a lot of bits that are the norn in the UK eg no bridesmaides, no new wedding jewrelly, no wedding cake ( we are having two pies to cut and a whole table of puddings ), no wedding cars, no photographer ( wish we could afford one but at the end of the day we only need one or two photos to put up at home), no big dress, fancy hair or make up.

I am diy my hair piece and DP wedding shirt, plus all the decorations for the party. But the main way we have saved money is asking guests to bring the own picnic, its abit odd but honestly there is no way we can afford to feed all our guests and if we cut the numbers we would have space for family and no friends which is not what we want. On the plus side it means guests can eat what ever they want and its all that bit more relaxed and informal.

We wanted to be budget at the start… we aimed for 7K. We are now at 10K and rising! How, how, HOW did you guys spend so little on food, drink and alcohol? that’s where most of our cash is going! So far, we budgeted:

£3,200 sit down, multi-course wedding breakfast for 80+

£1,500 for a home made buffet for 100+ evening guests and alcohol for the whole day, but this will probably rise to around £2,000. AND this is with me making my own buffet, cupcakes, and wedding cake!

I say again… how, how HOW did you guys do the food and booze so cheaply?

TOTAL was $3500 including dress and all food. (excluding rings. haha our rings cost as much as our whole wedding)

    Here’s how we did it:

Afternoon wedding (was all over by 4pm)

    No alcohol

Food was buffet style, not plated.

Assorted desserts instead of a wedding cake

    Off season (December)

    Family videographer, but professional photographer

Mother-In-Law did bouquets (bulk flowers from costco online)
