So, I just got engaged and I am SUPER excited. I have a date picked in August and a venue close to home in Upstate NY. My future mother-in-law lives in the DC area and wants to go dress shopping in a few months. My only problem is that she has expensive taste and a lot of money, whereas I am looking for something on a serious budget ($300 max) since we are paying for most of the wedding ourselves (total budget of $4000, IT CAN BE DONE!). Where can I go in and around DC that will fit my budget and have a fantastic time with my mom and mother-in-law!? I am perfectly fine with non-traditional and second-hand, I just need to know where to look!

@JayBee221467: St. Anthony’s Bridal in Bethesda. They sell all of their donated dresses for $150 and also sell veils, slips, shoes, etc., at very reasonable prices. I visited them a few months ago when I was dress shopping. I didn’t get my dress from them but it was a great experience. The volunteers are really nice and don’t rush you. They’re only open 10 am – 12 noon on Saturdays, and you can just walk on in.

@TwinABee: This is super helpful. I was looking for a backup veil for my second wedding dress. Thanks for posting the topic (@JayBee221467) and the tips Metro D.C. Bees.
I was thinking of Hannelore’s in Old Town; the shop is pretty big so that might be a stellar place to start too.

@lovekiss: I second the idea. Love the place, got a dress for $500 when it was worth 3000.

Hi JayBee. I just started my own pop up Bridal shop called Abby K Bridal, http://www.abbykbridal.com. Take a look at our inventory, we’re always adding more as well! We will be at the Washington Bridal Showcase in April if you want to try on any of them. We have a grand opening special right now, $100 off every dress. I encourage you to come and browse. =)
