How many guests would you have at the wedding? Oh, and congratulations on the engagement!! 🙂

So, are you just looking at serving your guests hors d’oeuvres after the ceremony or dinner as well? Just curious so I and the other bees best know how to help you. 🙂

Your best bet would probably be to look into a restaurant buyout. Since they’re not really typical wedding venues they’re much cheaper than other venues and usually don’t charge an extra venue fee, just charge you for the food and drinks but usually at a minimum amount.  The restaurant would already have some level of decoration so you could probably skip that aspect.  The only drawback I can see to this is if you were planning on having your ceremony there too, it could be difficult to accommodate.

I would contact a few restaurants and see what their purchase minimum would be to reserve it for a Friday evening and ask for a sample menu so you can get an idea of pricing.

I would also do the same as loveisbrewing suggested. That is probably your best bet. Also, is 85-90 the lowest your guest list can be? The reason why I ask is because it’s the best way to cut costs.

kpeebs1:  with 85 guests that’s $35 per person. That’s less than you’d pay for a simple dinner and 3 alcoholic drinks in any regular restaurant. I assme the 3K need to include tax and tip? Almost impossible for a decent reception!
