@jessjlstar:  I know your SO doesn’t want you to get a preowned ring, but you can get such a killer deal going that route.

Here’s a 14 k white gold 1 ct Amora moissanite (different from the Amora gem) in a halo, size 5.5 for $300.

Here is an unworn 1 ct moissy ring in yellow gold. You’d have to have it sized up from 4.75. It’s $375.

Here is a sz 5.5 radiant moissy with diamond accents for $375.

@jessjlstar:  Also checkout Gemvara.com They have a tone of options under $500 and many under $350 and you can customize them with different stones.

$315 – thats bue and white sapphires – you could also do it the other way blue centre and white outer etc

I voted Moissy because I love their fire (I don’t have one and hadn’t even heard of them until the Bee).  I have a white sapphire RHR (a family heirloom from 1946 – I love sapphire for their hardness and durability) and while I love it I find that I have to clean it ALL the time for it stay shiny.  I can go for a few weeks without cleaning my diamond and it still sparkles but my sapphire would need to be cleaned weekly to remain sparkly.

@jessjlstar:  I mentioned beautiful loose stones a few posts back from BTD. They also set stones into rings so you can have the ring finished and sized correctly sent to you.

For example – these two 6.5mm gorgeous round sapphires set into a vintage style solitaire on the BTD website would cost a total of $468

I dont know how you feel about CZ, but Wink CZ is apparently the best cut cubic zirconia you can buy and looks just like diamonds. Their coloured CZ is just fabulous also.

It may not be a super long term option but their settings are to die for and after a few years you could replace the stone if you wanted. Worth taking a look for their incredible stones and settings. Well known on the forums for their breathtaking rings: http://winkcz.com/

@jessjlstar:  We went and I tried on about 5-6 different rings. I’ll be picking mine up this weekend, It was $119 and I got the protection program (incase any stones fall out and no charge to get it sized) and it came to $159 total! I can post a picture if you’d like!

@jessjlstar:  I should also mention, my ering is from KOHLS! He was wanting to propose but didn’t have the funds to do so. His mom was looking around online and saw a ring that looked like what I had said I would want, it with promocodes and a sale on the website, got a $2,500 ring down to about $630! It is worth checking out that site as well because my ring appraised for even more than that.

@jessjlstar:  Great choice if you decide to go with Moissanite…. i have an Amora gem ring (which is an SiC in the moissanite family) and it is gorgeous! So much damn sparkle.

As other PP’s might have said: check out MoissaniteCo. You might have to go with a simple solitaire ring or even a classic 3 stone moissanite ring to stay under $500 budget but who needs an ornate setting when you have a centre stone that sparkles like nobodies business???!!

Good luck on your quest to find the perfect Moissanite ring!
