This is the sapphire ring. The centerstone is a 7mm round cut white sapphire with white sapphires on the shank and on the band. I absolutely LOVE high settings; I think it looks fabulous!
This is the lovely Moissy! It’s a 6.5mm round brilliant cut, unenhanced. Obviously, it’s a classic solitaire. However, it’s more than triple the cost of the sapphire ring for a smaller size. That’s a little off putting.
Ohmygosh, ohmygosh, ohmygosh! I also found this white sapphire halo ring online! It’s a 6mm centerstone with 1.2mm accent stones. AND the setting is high enough that you could slip a milgrain/sapphire wedding band right under there ๐
I definitely think these are great parameters for where you’re at in your life. My husband and I got the wedding ring that I still wear for $250 at a Zales outlet, and yes, it was used, or used as a display ring or something, but I didn’t care. And then later, when we were in a better place financially, I got some bling. I’d definitely go with lab created sapphires in either white or blue, because they are chemically exactly the same, but much clearer/cleaner, and much more affordable.
I personally love this one: http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=13217103&fd=Taxonomy&fd=Gold&fd=Ring&size=96&fv=3740873&fv=Metal+Type%2FGold&fv=Style%2FRing&ff=Taxonomy&ff=PAD&ff=PAD’ defer=’defer
and these, which come in white, yellow and rose gold: http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=19152746&fd=Taxonomy&fd=Gold&fd=Ring&size=96&fv=3740873&fv=Metal+Type%2FGold&fv=Style%2FRing&ff=Taxonomy&ff=PAD&ff=PAD’ defer=’defer
Or if you want a solitaire this one is super classic: http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4413224&fd=Taxonomy&fd=Gold&fd=Ring&size=96&fv=3740873&fv=Metal+Type%2FGold&fv=Style%2FRing&ff=Taxonomy&ff=PAD&ff=PAD’ defer=’defer
All of these are under $200.
I always look at rings on line…
I was so impressed at all the white sapphire rings they carry at zales. Some of the styles are real nice for under $300.00. And I think if you get something nice why even change it later?
Kohls also has some along with walmart and target.com – all white sapphire.
I always have such a hard time finding stuff on etsy – but – I think its a great option.
Lastly, and the most painful approach is buying a sapphire loose from somewhere like e-bay. I got very lucky with mine – lucky. When you get the loose stone you can talk to a designer about designing the ring in silver if thats whats in your budget. If you go to school they usually have a jewelry making class on campus. You can hit up the jewelry design teacher to see if he is interested in a side job. Usually the teachers who teach art always do jobs on the side and or have a masters in the subject and are more than capable of making something. The more simple you keep the design the cheaper it will be. But, again – having something designed is a many times painful process.
I forgot to say one more thing about where to find jewelry. It’s called jtv.com. Some people really hate them. But, they are a great deal of loose stones both real and lab created. They also have ring mounts made of gold and some made of silver. All you have to do is have a designer set the stone. Much cheaper than having one designed.
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned zales online. They have a lot of lab created white sapphires and blue, pink etc.. for great prices. I’m pretty sure they are online deals only.
My fiancee and I bought my engagement ring used. (I bought off craigslist, but exboyfriendjewlery.com and other sites have good ones too.) Its one .75 carat round diamond with a 14k white gold band. It was$500, and it was worth $1500. If you go used, make sure to check if it’s a real diamond! I did, and I haven’t regretted anything!
@jessjlstar: aww, I am sad that he won’t consdier a pre-owned ring.
If I were seriouslyl ring shopping today, that’s what I would do. Used diamonds aren’t worth much. You can get some charming diamond rings for $300 at the pawn shop. They are not huge, but they are sweet.
@jessjlstar: Kudos to you for being so darn smart about purchasing your ring!! And congrats.
There is a great site called 1saleaday.com. Once you go to the site, click on the jewelry tab, then click on diamonds and I’d also view the “rings” section since you’re interested in sapphires to. The prices are great for the quality of their diamonds.
Right now they have a beautiful 1/2 carat princess cut solitaire for $449. There are also a few bridal sets to choose from.
Hope this helps, Happy Shopping!
we were thinking about a ring within a budget, yet something that would mean something for us. My Fiance proposed to me with a ring that looks just like my mother’s. He got it from Amazon for around $400, NEW! 10K Band, with 12KT Tri-Color Leaves, and a 0.05 Kt diamond (not a flashy person here, lol).
I LOVE it, and have gotten MANY compliments.
Try this site, it’s where my ring is from (3/4car for $999)
