Hi, I’m getting married later this year on a budget.
Our ceremony at the registry office is at 3.30 (latest we can get). After that we have the reception party which will have a Hog Roast and Buffet. This will be served about 8PM though for the evening guests (evening guests arrive 7pm).
My question is the between say 5 when people get to the reception Venue and 8 when food is served. What can we do because people will be starving I would imagine.
We are going to have to provide some sort of food for the ceremony guests before the party starts. But what can we do, baring in mind we are on a budget. During the 2 hours before guests are arriving we will have a couple of speeches, a good natter etc.
My family are big drinkers but I’m more worried about the hunger part more than anything. there will be about 50 guests in the ceremony so even if that was £10 per head its another £500 on the budget!
Thanks

You need to have some type of appetizers.
Some budget friendly options:
cheeses, crackers, spreads
chicken wings
fruits and veggies

@mark_sheffield: Hi, I like your idea of just having the evening reception. In fact good few of the weddings I’ve been to – just have the one party. I’m not even sure you need to provide anything to be honest.. I’m sure they’ll be happy just having a drink.. been to loads of weddings where we have waited a few hours for the buffet to be served. However, if it’s very important to you, you could put some bowls of nibbles on the tables. Nothing expensive, just some crisps/nuts/whatever.

I have a similar problem we have church at 2.30 and reception at 7.30 and food at 8 which is finger buffet. we just gave r guests a list of local shops cafes and country pubs to have a snack and some drinks before re joining us for the evening. plus r golf club is open all day if they wanna arrive early.x
