I was CERTAIN that I wanted a sit-down, plated and served dinner at my reception… but I’m not exactly sure ‘why’, and now I’m starting to consider other options. I’ve only been to weddings where we had plated and served, but Fiance says he’s been to very nice buffet receptions and enjoyed himself just as much. And now I’m considering the station idea, but I have a few questions about logistics and such:
So for buffet, people still sit down in their assigned seats, then the service staff calls tables up to the food, correct? Everyone ends up sitting down and eating relatively at the same time… right?
So then for stations, how the heck does that work? Same way? Do people sit down at the same time, then get ‘released’ by the staff to go toward whatever station they’d like, then sit back down again to eat dinner together? Or is it more of a freestyle ‘try this, get some of that, get back up when you want more’ situation?
I’m not trying to be totally rigid and SIT DOWN, THEN EAT controlling, but how do the toasts and stuff happen if everyone’s at different points of their meal? We’re already eating kind of late (8pm) due to ceremony at 630 and cocktails from 7-745. I want the whole eating and toasting and what not to wrap up around 9ish if possible so we can start to party.
Any help is appreciated 🙂 Thanks!
