MiniMeow: Oh my gosh I am the SAME way…A lot of times I wake up in the night and think I see a bug, and turn on the light and there is nothing there. But one time, I turned on the light and saw a very large centipede hanging out on the wall rightttt above my pillow. Even after getting rid of it, I still couldn’t fall back asleep – I hate bugs!

MiniMeow: I lived in China for a bit and my last month there, I decided I really wanted to see Xi’an (where the terra cotta warriors are), but I couldn’t find anyone to travel with me, so I decided that, rather than miss out on the opportunity, I’d go by myself, language barrier be damned. Since I knew I’d have trouble communicating and didn’t want to be stuck trying to fumble myway through booking anything once I was already there, I planned out the entire trip down to the hour with my Chinese-speaking roommate before I left the city where I was living. We booked flights, hotel, transportation, and an English-speaking tourguide for Saturday. I even had my roommate write out phrases I new I’d need such as “Please take me to my hotel at this address” to hand to the cab driver at the airport and “My name is Amanda.417 and I have a reservation” for the front desk of the hotel….
Everything went smoothly until I checked in and was showed to my room….lights went on and cockroaches scattered…up the walls, across the blankets, over the TV screen. Holy hell. I had no cell reception, no internet access, and nowhere to go for the next 12 hours. Worst night of my life. Plus, I’d selected that hotel because it had it’s own restaurant so I wouldn’t have to find somewhere for dinner…no way in hell was I going to eat there, so “dinner” that night was a granola bar I had in my purse. yikes. Funny now…at the time: not so much.

MrsA44: Holy crap – I am so glad that they got it out for you. That is absolutely horrifying.
I am making a note to wear earplugs to bed going forward. I live in Arizona (Phoenix area), and we get our share of beetles and crickets that look like SyFy creatures in our apartment. They’re as big as a hand! 🙁 Sadly, we are one of the “lucky” ones as I’ve heard nightmare stories of people getting scorpions, huge spiders, and rattlesnakes around here!
