We may be crazy….planning a wedding and trying to start building a house, eek!!
But, we found a neighborhood we love that had a lot for sale that was just absolutely perfect! I know we are making the right decision but it is stressful! We just got our “official” contract from our builder today.
Next step, securing loan =)
Anyone else gone through this or built a house? Any tips or suggestions?
Wish us luck!

Good luck with your home! We bought a house a couple years before getting married and that was stressful enough!

I didn’t build a house while planning a wedding but I have built a house from the ground up in a new develpment. VERY STRESSFUL! I think if you know that going in and have a plan for managing the stress you’ll be okay. Be ready to expect the unexpected and if everything goes as according to plans, consider it a blessing. Good luck to you!

@eyegirl:We did! We signed our contract with our builder the weekend we got engaged. It honestly wasn’t too stressful for us, our building process went really smooth and we didn’t run into any issues. We did however have a much smaller, initmate wedding bc we wanted to put our money and focus on our home which was going to matter more in the long run for us than our day. We do not regret a thing. I’ve heard it can be quite a stressful experience especially with unforseen issues that may arise that can make costs rise as well and then some couples really do not see eye to eye on the whole design process and that can be overwhelming. Just take your time, get your loan secured (that was our most stressful part) and then proceed forward.
