you have to look for pieces that go together.  sometimes it will take a while to find all the pieces, othertimes you can find them right away.

do you want new or used?  look at consignment shops, refurbished places, model home furniture places, antique stores, etc.

If I were you, I would look at thrift stores. They have things that are SO pretty and at a good price that you could mix and match easy! Only thing I wouldn’t get there is a matress.

Only thing I could think about the idea of getting a new bedroom set is that bedrooms used to be smaller and single people used to have smaller beds to fit in those smaller rooms. 🙂 They needed to buy a bigger bed when they got married so there was room for two.

megrays :  we didn’t get a new bedroom set when we got married – I already had a really nice one that my mom had bought for me years ago so I just gave him one of the dressers. We did buy a new mattress when we moved in together though because both of ours were pretty shot. If you don’t want matchy matchy I would get either a metal or upholstered bed so that you can leave options open for side tables and dressers without having to worry about matching wood tones.
