So I’m a bridesmaid in my cousins wedding in September. There will be three of us standing up with her. She told us just to get fall colored dresses and she didn’t care where we got them. So one of the girls got a pretty fall yellow dress, another got a burgundy colored dress. So my though (and the bride agrees) is that I should have an orange dress. Since it’s in the fall I want a burnt orange dress and not bright orange.
Any suggestions on where to find a dress of that color? I was leaning towards getting it from a non-bridal place, like modcloth, but I’m having a hard time finding anything because right now all the spring colors are out.
I was going to wait till the end of summer when the fall colored dresses would be coming out but I don’t want to cut it to close.

Try Dessy Group – all of their colors are available year-round.
Edit: Just noticed that you didn’t want a “true” bridesmaid dress, oops! In that case, you might have better luck if you wait until near the end of summer when the fall lines come out. In the meantime, you could check J. Crew (both factory.jcrew.com and the regular website), Banana Republic, and Asos.

This one is from Yoox (would it be too bright?); they do have very limited quantities, though :

soonmrsnolan: I know you aren’t looking at traditional bridal places but David’s Bridal has a burnt orange color. I wore it in my cousin’s wedding.

I guess I’m not against getting if from a bridal place, I just didn’t want it to be obvious that I did. The dress below is one that one of the girls will be wearing for comparison.

soonmrsnolan: have you checked out Marchalls/Winners or Nordstrom?
Are you set on orange? How about fall green?

These don’t scream bridesmaid, while still being appropriate; from Yoox:

I know you mentioned Mod Cloth. Here is one of theirs.. I like that the design looks leafy.

Maybe search retailers that make gameday apparel for colleges? I’ve seen girls walk around in Austin with cute dresses for football games in that color.

Forever21 has quite a few. You might find one that’s appropriate.
Alfred Angelo has burnt orange dresses.

Great buy on this one from Free People

Check out mango.com, they have a lot in burnt orange-y colors right now! I was checking their site right now, and all the orange-y dresses made me remember reading this thread earlier today! 🙂 definately worth to take a look! Just not sure if they ship to the us? I am assuming you are from there. Good luck!

No suggestions, just wanted to say I love the sound of burnt orange! Especially in autumn. Unfortunately I can’t really wear that colour – I feel it clashes horribly with my red hair… 🙁
