That’s what we’re thinking of doing. Like almost throwing in the towel and paying for the costs all ourselves (and eloping, lol)! At least if we covered everything ourselves we’d have full control over all of it even if they don’t like us not inviting certain people /: And another thing Future Mother-In-Law keeps saying to Fiance is “grandpa’s getting old, he won’t be alive much longer!” and I can’t help but laugh at that cause I’m over here like…. awww we really want grandpa to be there but that doesn’t mean we’re gonna stop everything we’re doing to throw together a wedding in 24 hours or something LOL I want it planned out and I want it my way! Even if that may take a bit of a longer engagement to make happen ): Your budget on food and drinks for 45 sounds about right at some of the places I’ve looked at… which is why we wanted to opt for someplace that allowed our own food catering and bring in our own alcohol.. but that’s where we keep running into dead ends except for like a private estate or park. I might just have to go with a park after all is said and done after we put our priorities at the top and figure out how much that stuff’ll cost and find out where we need to make more sacrifices. I’m thinking the location and guest list will be areas where sacrificies will definitely need to be made because I’m already planning DIY centerpieces, DIY bouquet (either buying flowers in bulk or using silk), David’s Bridal has some beautiful dresses for under $200 (from what I’ve seen online), DIY hair and makeup! We have an officiant/friend doing it for free….. LIKE WHAT ELSE CAN I COMPROMISE HERE?!?!? omg lol -__-

I actually made my own in Excel!
I have columns for the name of the item, the estimated cost (what we want to spend or expect to spend), the realistic cost (based on research and talking to vendors), amount paid so far, and a notes column for extra info.
You can easily make the numbers add together at the bottom using the “sum” formula button and making sure the whole column is included, and you can also always insert extra columns or rows wherever you need them when you make your own.

Omg that sounds so awesome! Thanks! I have no idea how to use excel tho LOL but if I play with it I can probably figure it out. And look up “how to’s” on youtube haha! I like the idea of having each item estimated cost and realistic cost and what has been spent so far! Like when I budget for “alcohol”… I want to include subs like “cups, napkins, straws, ice” etc not just throw the whole total under a category called “alcohol” LOL I like things more detailed @[email protected]

Hey I completely understand where you’re at right now. My situation is a little different (FI in military so it was almost impossible to set a date and was driving me CRAZY lol)…we also have the tight budget and finally we decided on eloping! Well sort of, we plan on having my parents and sister and his parents and sister and 2 of our closest friends and have a beach ceremony and dinner reception. Total cost will be around 2500! We had a higher budget originally so now we will splurge on our honeymoon and put the rest in savings. We also plan to have a vow renewal party in a year so we can invite all of the family to celebrate. I don’t mean to just talk about my wedding but I’m trying to tell you about a cheaper option 🙂 it’s cheaper and ever since I decided I feel so calm and relaxed And just EXCITED!!! I know in Vegas it’s harder because there’s a lot of the little chapel and Elvis things whih you say you don’t want. So maybe there’s some way to have a beautiful wedding still. I staryed googling “SoCal elopement packages”. Some hotels did it or there were companies that did it. Maybe you could get married further away from Vegas so that you can find a less “Vegasy” type wedding…anyways good luck! Id love to hear what you decide.
Side note: some of the elopement packages I looked at allowed you to have up to 20 guests. And if you paid extra you could get up to 50…so there can be guests And if you are able to pay for it yourself without the inlaws help then maybe you could cut the guest list…

Oh wow, your ceremony sounds awesome, good luck! (: Yeah a venue outside of Vegas would be great price wise I bet… I looked in Lake Tahoe a lot, but then we have to consider the downfalls of driving super far (it’s 8 hours away) and not having the convenience of getting ready in our own home (saving costs on getting ready at a hotel and we don’t need a limo or something). We kind of want it to be close to the heart of Vegas as well just because our out of town guests will like to be near all the action haha (:

yes, you could absoutely assign any other guest responsibility to cue music for the ceremony. donuts sound fun! I totally second the brunch idea – a picnic brunch wedding sounds like a really fun event, actually.

Yes, I second the idea of either renting a large house (like a farmhouse) or a large barn. Since it’s Vegas, there may also be a cool mansion or two available for rent!

Thanks! It’s a local donut place and they have these amazing donuts you wouldn’t find anywhere else, we’re not doing traditional glazed or chocolate covered lol. We were thinking 4 different flavors; we like the Fat Elvis (which is PB filled with chocolate topped and honey drizzled and a banana… cute idea for our out of town guests I guess that’s like Elvis’s fav kind of sandwich or something? it’s really good), cheesecake donut (cheesecake inside, chocolate on top), banana cream pie (banana cream filling and whipped cream on top), and PB&J (maybe more for the kids but it’s still really good, grape jelly inside and real PB on top). Place is called Pink Box.
We’re thinking more about that rental idea! A mansion would probably be out of our budget but a 3 day rental at a good sized house would be cool if we can manage. We could have the rehearsal dinner there the night before, then setup for the ceremony and reception in the backyard and a post wedding brunch there the following morning! I’ll keep you bees posted (;
