Hey everyone, was hoping I might get lucky and run into someone who has had a similar issue. I have had bursistis in my right shoulder for about two years. It’s a nuisance but it’s bearable. When I went for my second fitting a couple weeks ago I realized just how swollen my shoulder is. It poured over the back. So while my left shoulder looks good the swelling in my right shoulder makes me look heavier than I am. I’ve been resting it and icing it since the fitting. Also have been taking ibuprofen regularly. No signs of improvement. Planning on starting back up my gym routine to see if that helps but was hoping someone out there may have another suggestion. (Also i realize a trip to the doctor is in order and its something I’ll do after the wedding but since I only have two weeks (wedding is 10/4/14) I’m looking for a quicker fix.)
thanks in advance for any help!

Going to the doctor now might be a good idea. I don’t know if this is something corisone shots might help, but your doctor would.

MsThemeless: cortisone girl……
I have bursitis in my right hip, plus labral tear and pincer impingement. I have to get surgery in December and I get married in 2 weeks. I am wearing a ballgown partly because my hip is swollen and noticeable so I couldn’t wear a form fitting dress. Thankfully I love ballgowns so that was not an issue.
I did get a couple of cortisone shots throughout the long process of ruling out everything that could be wrong, before figuring out my entire hip is a damn wreck. The cortisone didn’t help as far as the pain goes, but it really helped the swelling.
just make sure you do it a couple of weeks before the wedding because for one, you will be sore and it isn’t the good kind of sore. and for 2, you want to give it enough time to work its magic.
good luck! It freaking stinks :/

Thanks for the advice AB Bride and MrsPiggles. I may have to cave and call my doctor and see if I can get in this week. I hear you on the getting the dress to fit the ailment. I spend most of my days in stretchy pants and 100% cotton thanks to a nice case of eczema so anything with tulle was an instant no, way too itchy.
Good luck with your wedding MrsPiggles, hopefully your hip rides the adrenaline wave and leaves you alone for the day. And good luck with the surgery.

MsThemeless: I’m an RMT, and massage therapy can work wonders on bursitis, have you tried that? Try to avoid cortizone shots as they’re horrid for joint health, it greatly increases the risk of developing arthritis before you should.

MsThemeless: My husband had bursitis in his elbow for awhile..he looked like pop eye lol. His was from constantly injuring it while at work. The doc didn’t give him anything or do anything for it..it just went away once he started being more careful and wearing elbow pads. I don’t have any advice other than what worked for my husband. I hope you feel great on your wedding day and get that bursitis under control!
