Hi, I just got my first big girl job about 9 months ago and with it comes new territory… I have a CME conference to go to tomorrow and I WANT to just wear jeans and a nice shirt, but feel like maybe I should step it up. I’m not going to network, just to listen to some lectures.
How professional do I need to dress for a 1 day CME at a University?

I’m all for making a positive first impression, and, in my opinion, I feel it’s better to overdress than underdress! Instead of jeans and a nice shirt, maybe dress pants and a nice shirt, or a long pencil skirt and a nice shirt? I’ve gone to a couple conferences before and they always tend to be business casual, with the presenters dressing more professionally. Even if you’re not there to network, you might end up meeting people that you want to make a good impression on, so I would say it never hurts to look polished!
Good luck and have fun!
