I’m not sure about the specific gown, but I think whoever does your alterations should be able to help you figure out what type of bustle will look best on you. When I bought my dress, I spoke to the person they have in alterations and she showed me a few different options (she just gathered the fabric to show what it would look like).

I didn’t know anything about a bustle until I went in for my first fitting.  The alterations woman just pinned it different ways and asked what I thought and told me what kind of bustle it was. I prefered the french bustle with my dress. So maybe whoever does your alterations can help?

the fabric of your dress seems light. usually, people do american (over) bustle to that kind of gowns, but i also have seen a few that had under bustle.

i’m a control freak, so i wanted to make sure i know what i like and don’t like before i meet my seamstress. i’m glad i did that, because the first bustle she did was pretty ugly, and i had to pretty much tell her exactly what i want.

so i would suggest you research online and find photos so that you have an idea before you meet with your seamstress 🙂

I’m not knowledgable about bustles but when I went to the woman who altered my dress she made some recommendations based on my dress and showed me some photos.  I ended up with the “american” bustle and I can’t wait to see the end result.
