Don’t cut off the train, it is so pretty! Smile

The picture above is a “french” bustle, or under bustle. Your seamstress could probably do something similar but less poofy if you wanted. There is also an “American” or over bustle, which tends to be simpler. I don’t have any pictures, but there are other bustle posts on here, or google it to see.

If you don’t like poofy bustles, you should do a “nacho” bustle like I did. You dress is similar in style to mine, so I think it would work. Basically, the seamstress pulls the train up under the skirt, turning it into a bubble skirt. I despise bustles but I really liked this one because it leaves the back of the skirt totally flat.

I also had a ballgown type dress with a train and I had mine under bustled/ball gown bustle.  I think thats what they called it but what they did was install a bunch of buttons on the inside of my dress and when bustled the back looked identical to the front. I wish I had a before and after pic of my dress but unfortunately i had a crappy photog.

*** sorry i guess we where posting at the same time but it’s just like the pic above.

I’m doing an under bustle, theres no extra poof or layers on the dress.  It jsut looks like a floor length dress when bustled and is exactly what it sounds like, the bottom of the dress is tied underneath to just tuck it away.  Heres a side pic of how mine will look bustled:

Your seamstress should be able to show you a variety of options and styles for bustle.  Mine showed me three different ones in less than five minutes…

Because of the bow at the back I would bustle it under rather than over

@Fricky: Yes. It’s hosted with photobucket. I think Nachos said that the lady at DB called it a “ballroom bustle” but Ive not been able to find anything like it searching for ballroom bustle.

It was super easy. There were little buttons on the hem and in an arch under the dress. My mom just started at one end and then buttoned in a line. Took 5 minutes tops. I really recommend it.
