when i was trying on veils the woman at the shop explained to me that it is really difficult to bustle the veil.  the tulle is so delicate any attempt to pin it would probably tear it.  she showed me that you can wrap it around one arm then across your back and then drape over your other arm, that was the best alternative but I will probably end up just taking it off.

You definitely don’t bustle a veil. If you have your heart set on a cathedral veil, have you thought about getting a shorter one for the reception?

@eagle:  http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/cathedral-length-veil-can-i-keep-it-on-for-the-reception this is a thread I started a little while ago about cathedral length veils. The 2nd to last post by Brielle shows her bustled veil. You can probably PM her about it, but it sounds like you add a clear snap to the middle of the veil and the top, and then you can just snap it up for the reception. This is what I’m planning on doing, but I have not purchased a veil yet.

@eagle:  Also I have heard that this can be really heavy, so you might consider getting a veil that does not have a ton of lace on it, because that will add a lot to ther weight.

@eagle:  I have also heard of girls with a separate blusher wearing that as the veil for the reception. And the weight depends on how much lace. Try wearing it around the house for a couple of house and see how you feel.

You can buy a shorter veil. I had 3 veils,  a blusher, a cathedral and a bird cage, and I worked my way through all 3 of them on my wedding day.

I have a Cathedral length veil as well, it was one of the things I “had to have.”  The Catherdral length part is detatchable though, and the blusher turns into a shorter veil that I can wear the rest of the night.  I thought it was the coolest thing when the sales girl showed it to me.
