I am a little bit smaller than you on top, but not much. I am not going to wear anything under my gown. I will have a corset back and it will be laced up tight. I think wearing anything under my dress will only make me look bigger, so I am option for nothing.

i’m a dd and just tried a long-line bra(/bustier–i think they’re the same thing!) with my dress today, and it’s going to fit perfect! somehow it doesn’t slip down at all and is really comfy

I’m a 34Dirty Delete and I’m wearing nada!   The seamstress made my top tight enough that I don’t need anything!

I do recommend Le Mystere strapless bras…they’re fabulous!

First ensure you are wearing the right bra size – even with big girls, (i have 32GG) your bra shouldnt be sliding down TOO much when you wear the right band and cup size (your straps shouldnt be holding up your bra)

then, get thee to http://www.herroom.com or http://www.figleaves.com and find yourself a nice longline bra. it will ensure that your bra doesnt slip down. you can even have a seamstress sew it into your gown so it defintately wont slip down.

I’m a 34Dirty Delete and I’m wearing a long-line bra with my strapless, corset-less dress.  I was surprised how comfortable it was and that it didn’t slip around – I hate strapless bras for the same reasons you stated.

I wore a bustier from herroom.com and it worked great.

Sorry,  I am not answering so much as adding more to the question.  Where do you ever find any bras when you are shopping for nonwedding stuff?

I know that I should technically be wearing a 34DDD, but since I can’t find it anywhere, I’ve been settling with an ill-fitting 36Dirty Delete or a comfortable strap and a-spilling-out-the-top 34 Dirty Delete.

So, where do you shop when the Victoria Secrets of the world have nothing to offer us?

I’m going to try David’s Bridal and see if they can squeeze me into something not too obscene later today.

I am a 32DDD and there is only one actual store that is nationwide (meaning, not counting independent stores or online offerings) where you can buy good bras – Nordstrom.  Go, get fitted, and let the sales ladies pick out a few to try on.  You will pay through the nose, but I think it is totally worth it to have bras that fit.

Prior to doing this, I could never wear anything strapless or with a different neckline because every strapless bra I ever tried was by my knees within 5 minutes.  Now I have a great strapless, which I will be wearing under my dress.

But, in general, I agree that a long-line is best because you are guaranteed against slippage.  I didn’t go this route because I was afraid of being too hot.  And I was being cheap.

I’m a 34Dirty Delete and am wearing a longline bra/bustier type thing under my dress. It holds everything in place and doesn’t move around — much more comfortable than a strapless bra!

In terms of day-to-day bra purcahses I’m all about Nordstrom. I personally am partial to Wacoal bras (because they’re pretty AND they fit me), but they carry a ton of great lines and have something for everyone, and really wonderful service.

For day to day stuff – I still go with Victorias Secret (many of the bras go up to the 34Dirty Delete I need) but if the twins ever get any bigger, I’ve heard wonderful things about Nordstrom and would definitely look to start shopping there.  So I’ll agree with that recommendation!

@snakeysnake- I’m a 38G and I had a horrible time finding bras until I went to a really cool specialty boutique in the LA area….I basically raided their inventory and found a bunch of different lines that make really beautiful, sexy, non-Grandma type bras that FIT me…a world of difference!  i found swimsuits and slips and such that are usually also really hard to find in my size.  my favorite brand i found was Freya but here’s the website to the store i went to…you can find the bras you like and then search online for the styles at other locations if it is too pricey there….

for the everyday bras – NORDSTROMS! they carry all of the bra lines that go up in size (freya, panache, etc.) and do sizing as well. either that or i get them online at http://www.herroom.com or http://www.figleaves.com i also love bravissimo.com for clothes that fit right! 🙂

back when i was a 34DDD i did shop at fredericks – from the store, or ordered off the catalogue.

I was a Fredricks lover until I went in the last time to restock and everything was very cheap and chintzy feeling.  They seemed to redesign the ones that I regularly bought so I am a little disappointed in them.  The long line bra’s seem to work the best, but they do get warm in the summer!
