If your baker is good they can make the buttercream icing look just as good as the fondant without sacrificing taste.

Fondant is disgusting…don’t do it!  I work in a bakery and you can get buttercream just as smooth without the nasty plastic taste!

@Earlybride: I got both. They are doing buttercream and then putting fondant over it.

@JoJo Bananas: I never would have known just looksing at the cake! Awesome!

I would go buttercream! Fondant is not so yummy. Even if you can peel it off, it usually costs more so why waste $$$?

@Earlybride:You can get edible sugar ribbon. Its fragile but not that hard to use. If you get a quality product it looks like real ribbon but is 100% edible.

Both of these cakes use sugar ribbon and butter cream.

Buttercream. So delicious. I actually haven’t tried marshmallow fondant, so I’m curious of its taste compared to the fondant you can buy in craft/baking stores.

@Earlybride:Its something I discovered only a year ago. You can use realy ribbon too, it does get a little messy but its totally ok to use realy ribbon and just peel it as you cut the cake.
