If you still love the dress – why not wear it!? I get that there’s bad juju, but if it doesn’t bother you, it shouldn’t bother anyone else. I’d probably check in with your fiance though, he may be sentimental or superstitious and prefer you get a fresh start.

summerrain123 :  it really depends first on how it looks on you now. You said it would “look okay maybe good. ‘

Your dress should look great on you, so if it doesn’t don’t even waste time thinking about if you should use it.

it’s not about the vibes from the past, it’s about how it makes you feel today.

I would buy a new one, if you could, because I’m sentimental about those things. But if it doesn’t bother you, then there’s no reason to buy a new dress if it still fits and looks good! (agree I would want it to look better than “okay,” though!).

summerrain123 :  if you’re not convinced on selling it the there are a bunch of ways to donate your gown so it can bring joy to someone else.

I would personally get a new one for the bad vibes you mentioned–you came to possess it explicitly for a relationship (and a future) that is now in pieces. That said, if you love it and don’t associate it with negativity, you should totally keep it and wear it.

If you still love it and it looks good on you then go ahead and wear it. You could also go dress shopping and see what else is out there and then decide.

It depends on how you feel about it. If you bought the dress with him in mind…then I wouldn’t wear it. If you bought the dress for you, then keep it!

Incidentally that’s how I think all tattoos should be handled too. Never get a tattoo for/about someone else….just get one that reminds you of how you feel (love, trust, security, freedom, whatever). Prevents regrets when things with that person doesn’t work out 🙂

summerrain123 :  if the dress has no sentimental value from your previous engagement and you still love it then go for it!

Personally I couldn’t wear it if I was in that situation, my SO has no opinion on how my dress should look or where it comes from but I’m not sure he would love the fact that I originally bought it to get married to someone else in.

It sounds as if you really want a different type of dress and for that reason alone should at least explore your options.

It’s not like an engagement ring being recycled. It’s a dress. If you still love it, go for it. If not, get a new one.
