I went to Goodwill and bought genuine china and silverware. Many were still in the original packaging and those that weren’t didn’t appear to ever have been used.

Check Costco if you have one near you. They had some beautiful options when I popped in a few weeks ago. You could barely tell the difference!

I also like creativeplannertobee’s idea though. I am considering doing that. Just turn around and sell them to other bride’s here on wedding bee when you’re done!

lewis party supplies (partyatlewis.com) is online and they have a great selection.  They delivered super fast too.  I bought plates at bed bath and beyond that came with silver finish utensils for serving.  I got them half price because they were an xmas item – but i’ve seen the same ones at party city.  They also have the metal looking utensils there.  I thought they had a nice section of nicer items.  I ended up getting the cheapy plastic wine glasses though – I just couldn’t validate spending > $1/per glass for plastic.

I stalked weddingbee classifies & go my flatware for 25 cents a piece, plates I got from IKEA for only 79 cents each, so I will be using this for my dinner & cake. I got my chargers from the dollar store. And drinking cups I got from Target a dozen for 7.99 & I got my wine & champagne at IKEA at a GREAT price also. I know it may have been a little more versus renting BUT imagine if someone breaks a glass, accidently throws away a fork, etc. I’d come off paying just the same with delivery also! Forget it. I plan on selling everything I’ve bought on craigslist & should get some money back. I’m pretty pleased with myself! =)
