Ahh. Here I am again, wanting to get my dress already yet having trouble pulling the trigger. I started filling out the Jasmine’s order form this weekend then got to the part where it says my height should be measured WITH the shoes I am going to wear. Yeah, well, I haven’t chosen the shoes yet. I’ve chosen a top 10 or so, but can’t decide!
Fiance suggested to just add the height of the heel I want to get, 5.5in (because I’m short and Fiance is at least a foot taller than me). This makes sense but I’m worried that the heel height may change depending on what shoe I ultimately pick or that the guesstimation won’t be accurate enough.
Am I over-analyzing this? What should I get first, the shoes or the dress?

Get your dress first and I would do it soon! Very soon! Then buy your shoes to match your dress. I wouldnt go for a super high heel because you will be wearing them all day. Just get the dress hem done after you get your shoes. Its better to be comfortable!

Get the dress first. The style, fit and look of the dress often dictate what shoe is a good match. Also I’d really worry about 5.5″ heels for an entire wedding day; unless you wear those height heels all the time, they can get really uncomfortable, really quickly. If you pick those for the day, and have to change out of them, that leaves an awful lot of fabric dragging on the ground. A more moderate heel might actually be something you can spend the whole day in.

You don’t need your shoes until your first fitting– so if you find a dream pair, great– if not, then just order your dress based on the tallest heel you might possibly wear and have it altered to fit when you’ve picked the shoes.
I would definitely recommend picking your dress soon though– you want to have lots of time to browse!

If you get your dress long it’s no biggie to find a local seamstress to rehem it, but they can’t make it longer. Order it based on your max planned heel height to get the order placed.

Dress first and add a few inches of how tall you will be with shoes (or longer) since it’s easier to take off length than to add.

dress first, then shoes, then fitting.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that there is no way in hell I’m going to make it all day in 5.5 inch heels! I don’t have the pain tolerence or the willpower. I’ll have a pair of converse for after the ceremony. Thanks for your concern, though!

I have to admit I’m a little surprised that NO ONE voted shoes first! I feel like a total dork.

Deff the dress!! and match the shoes to the dress

Definitely purchase the dress first! You don’t want to be tied down based on your shoes.

I got the shoes first but I knew I wanted a tea length dress so length wasn’t an issue. I don’t think it matters, but I see most are suggesting dress first.
