I just found this thread, and I just have to tell you, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! Stop it with the self-hating talk!!! I want you also to keep in mind that cell phone cameras and point-and-shoot cameras do not take the most flattering of photos. I had a lot of dress regret with mine, and it all came from looking at the photos which just did not do the dress justice, but everytime I put it back on I loved it.

With that said, I agree 100% with previous posters about a sash to bring the focus to your (tiny, not big) waist and a hoop to flare out the bottom. Other than that, the dress is gorgeous on you, and holy cow, the back is totally awesome!

Also, your comeback about the tie is classic! I wish I could think of things like that in a conversation! Girl, do what makes YOU feel beautiful. I can tell you, the day of, both you and he will do very little thinking about what your dress looks like. You will both just be ridiclously happy to be marrying each other, and anything that makes you feel good on top of that is icing on the cake. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey there wedding date twin!!!!!

I love my dress.  It’s exactly what I wanted and I got it for cheap!  I got mine in an unconventional place, at the running of the brides in boston.  You may not have a running of the brides close to you (since you’re in CA), however a great source for getting exactly the dress you want for very little money is to scour Craigslist.

Some ladies change their mind and have never even worn the dress they bought or they’ve worn their dress and hate to have it boxed up knowing it will never be worn again.  You can get whatever style you want, it just might take a bit of searching.

If you’re not sure what style it is that you want, try going to a few gown stores and trying on every shape, cut and style availible until you find exactly what you want.  See if they’ll sell you the sample they have for a discount.  If not, take your newfound knowledge to Craigslist and see if you can hunt down something similar.

Believe it or not I found my dress for $599 (sample dress) at the running of the brides.  It was originally $2500

Check out your craigslist wedding gowns in orange county:

I just want to say that I’m truly sorry for your upset and so close to your wedding day. I understand how frustrating dress shopping can be and especially if you aren’t convinced you found THE ONE. I was a 3 DRESS BRIDE, until I finally found my dream dress. You are not obligated to wear a dress that you and your fiance don’t love. If you are not thrilled with it, you should definitely check out Church Street Bridal!!

http://www.churchstreetbridal.blogspot.com

They are a non-profit bridal shop that receive donations from the unbelievable Kleinfeld in NY, as well as several other high end shops. They sell sample dresses at around $300-500, sometimes less and sometimes slightly more. These are actual, high end designer gowns (ex/ Pnina Tornai, Jim Hjelm, Lazaro, Melissa Sweet, Rivini, Monique Lhuillier, Romona Keveza, etc., etc.) that have never been purchased or worn at a wedding! They tend to list one dress a day on their blog site (above), but have a TON of dresses at their shop in Virginia and DO ship. I know there are a few youtube videos of the place. Michelle is the contact and she is awesome! They have most sizes, but a lot of bridal size 10’s and 20’s, with most sizes in between. They have a huge sale coming up Sept 10th and will open back up Sept 13th, so definitely email them asap! I bought my Vanitas from them and she retails for $8,800!! Of course, I paid a shocking fraction of that cost and the dress is FLAWLESS and presumably a special order that didn’t work out. They actually have a thread in the classifieds under “Sample Dress Gold Mine Part 2”, I believe. If you have a bit of cash on reserve, I would contact them asap to part ways with the old and welcome a new beauty into your life to make you feel gorgeous (as you should) on your big day!! Best of luck, hun! You are going to be one beautiful bride to everyone, especially your fiance, no matter what you wear on the day of but it is so important that you love and feel confident in what you wear on your special day. Let me know if CSB works out for you! I cannot recommend them enough! ๐Ÿ™‚

I feel your pain! I bought a dress only 4 weeks ago and I started second guessing it straight away! I think I got paniced as I went round the dress shops saying I only had 10 months till the big day and they stressed that I needed to buy my dress quick as they take 9 months to come in … after ordering this dress I was then told it will only take 2 months to arrive!!! Grrrrr! I’m desperate for a different one, but can only afford a second hand one (my original dress was only £500) I just know it’s not everything I’ve dreamed about and I subtly showed my fiance a picture with out telling him it’s mine and his reply was “It looks like a white evening dress…” :'( What can a girl do?!

I would say, you are beautiful and the picture of the dress you’ve posted accentuates that. Your wearing the dress and not the other way round. You don’t want it to over shadow your natural beauty, but I know how it feels to dislike your dress. Perhaps treat yourself to a truely awesome bouquet and don’t get stuck on the price of it, people might remember you for that.

Hope it all gets sorted, Enjoy your day and don’t let it bring the experience down! Xxxxx

@mhackney21:I can’t wait to see a pic of your dress with the sash on it! I think you made the right decision getting a sash. I was also unhappy with my dress, but adding a crystal sash and a mermaid slip made a huge difference for me. I agree with what some others have said that making the bottom of your skirt flare out a bit more may help with proportioning and waist definition. Also, its so nice to hear that you and your fiance came together on this… nice comeback on the tie! ๐Ÿ™‚

Do you have pictures of your dress with the new sash? I’d love to see the before and after.
