Ok, so im pretty sure that I have found the dress I want to wear for our wedding… problem is, we havnt even set a date yet… and its an etsy dress so if i do buy it I will be bying it blind so to speak.. but… I reeealllly want to buy it now.. its exactly what i have been looking for!
Has anyone else done this too and did the gamble pay off for them or did you end up trying it on, hating it and having to find another dress?

I couldnt wait to go dress shopping. We don’t have date set yet, and we thinking may 2014, it’s year and a half away. And I already got My dress. I love it every day more and more. I have couple videos and pictures of me trying it on, and I watch them like 5 times a day :). But also I keep looking at more dresses, and if I will find something I love more, i keep saying to myself that I always can sell first one… But I honestly don’t think ill se something better:). If I were u, I would definitely get it!

I would wait. I see two possible problems.
1. You should at least try on some styles in person to see what you like. I thought I wanted one thing but after trying stuff on I realized I wanted something completely different.
2. Does this dress work for all styles? What if you end up moving seasons? Locations?

I started looking around, and I found the dress I love. It’s a china made dress, and I’m afraid I won’t be able to find it in a year and a half – closer to our date. It would be very difficult to replicate as there’s alot of feathers/detail involved. I’m going to go ahead and purchase it in a couple months, once I get my undergarments purchased.
The dress is only $150, I figure if I don’t like it closer to the time, I can always sell it and recoup most of my money.

- Wedding: September 2014 - Lodge
I couldn’t wait to go dress shopping after we got engaged and bought before we set a date. It had all the elements I wanted. We set a date and venue and later changed it and I no longer wanted that dress….Things worked out for me I was able to sell my first dress and use that money to pay for my 2nd dress.
Here is my suggestion: if you truly love it, buy it. But once you buy stop looking at dresses because I didn’t and that’s how I ended up with dress regret.
I also suggest if you truly love it than go ahead and buy it because next year it may not be available. I would rather buy and have dress regret than not buy and wish I had bought it when it was available.

I bought my dress before the location/venue/etc were set. It ended up working out beautifully.
Is the dress a one-of-a-kind-now-only dress, or will the etsy seller make the dress for you? If it’s custom made, you could contact the seller but not order till your other wedding plans become more defined.

Honestly, I would wait and go shop around and try dresses on. I loved so many styles of dresses, but once I went to a shop and tried them on, I hated them on me and I totally changed my mind about the style and went for something I totally didn’t even expect that I’d like.
