Buying a dress before the ring…

I change my mind all the time that I would probably wait until I was engaged. With that said, if $350 is all you “waste” while planning a wedding, then I think you’ll be fine. I would chat with your FH about it first though, just so everyone is on the same page.

@workingonmynightcheese:  I wouldn’t count my chickens before they hatch.  Not saying your SO won’t propose, but I think you’re really taking engagement for granted and as a given.  We see bees on this site all the time whose SOs have the ring but hang onto it for months or years, ultimately never proposing. I think you’re putting the cart before the horse.  There will be other dresses with possibly even better attributes and prices.  There’s no need to rush.

@workingonmynightcheese:  I would do it. If you end up hating it as a wedding dress you could always dye it or something. That’s just such a good price.

There have been a few times I’ve regretted not jumping on a good deal.  I’ve learned to trust my instincts. Worst case scenario is you’re out $350.  If you have a gut feeling and that is an acceptable loss for you, then go for it.

@workingonmynightcheese:  I came on here to say no no no you are setting yourself up for failure, but after reading that you already have the ring in house but just not on finger yet, and given the steep discount, I’d say get it.

I personally would be hesitant to buy a wedding dress online even if it did look like my dream dress, but if your gut is telling you yes, then get it! Unless you are having an incredibly low budget wedding and being out an extra $350 will make a difference.  Did you have a budget for a wedding dress in your head? If you reduced that budget by $350 do you thnk you could still find your dream dress, if this one doesn’t turn out to be it? If the anwer is yes, then go for it!

Good luck!

@workingonmynightcheese:  buy the dress! I bought a dress in March. He had the ring and everything and before he proposed I found a pre-owned dress site and just decided to go ahead and get it. He had proposed since then so I don’t feel completely nuts anymore 😂

Generally I think its a bit crazy town to buy a dress before a proposal, but $350 is pretty sweet, and if something were to happen, that’s not a huge loss. Now, pics of the dress!
