That’s not strange…its her wedding! Just try and be a friend and support her. Some woman chose the venue based on the dress…or the other way around.

Well I bought my dress first but we had already set a date and knew what venue we needed and had an estimated budget..

I bought my dress first. We were in town looking at venues and we had some time to kill in between appointments so we went dress shopping. I never expected to buy a dress that day, but it was just the way it ended up happening. It was probably another month before we picked a date and a venue. What does it matter what order she does things in? I think it’s kind of judgemental of you to decide that this says something about how serious she is.

I did this too. I had an idea in mind of what kind of dress I wanted, saw one on a good sale, and went for it. We then picked colors, he picked his suit, and then we chose a venue and a date. I didn’t get a ring w the proposal, so I think I really wanted something weddingy so that I could get more in the mood for the rest of it. It was also a nice dress on a great sale, and I’m not one to let something like that slide. I say if it works, it works.

I bought my dress first. For me, I’m having a fairly short engagement, so I knew I had to get started planning pretty quickly. The dress was something I could do and get done without having to take a long time planning it. Having something done so early made me feel like I was on top of things. And it kicked off wedding planning nicely.

@GrumpyPumpkin: Same for me! I didn’t get a ring with the proposal, and dress shopping made me start feeling more like a bride. And my dress was a great price, and I didn’t want to miss out.

@Showers: I know it’s hard, but try not to judge other people’s relationships. You never really know what goes on behind closed doors.

As for the other stuff, don’t worry! It will all come together! Even if she did order a bunch of stuff, there are always lots of venues to choose from! I’d guess that she’s doing the things that are most important to her first, so she probably doesn’t care so much about the venue.

I bought my dress 2 months before he proposed.   I thought it was coming and I don’t live near family so while with them I went shopping. And it was Love!  He still doesn’t know I already have a dress, I keep tricking him by showing him all these magazine clippings of dresses I know he would hate  LOL

I bought my dress before we were even “officially” engaged. We knew marraige was coming but didn’t have a date or anything else. Not everyone has to travel the beaten path.

I  bought my dress first.  We have a 22-month engagement so I wasn’t prepared to book the venue yet.  I went to the bridal salon just to browse and try on a designer I was interested in.  Turns out I found “the one” (first dress I tried on) and so I ended up buying my dress before anything else was done.
