We bought a house before we got engaged.  We  have been together for 10 years at this point and knew we were going to get married but I really wanted the tax credit for buying a house and we found one we loved so we bought it.  We bought our house in march of 2010 and we are getting married january of 2012

We bought a house together after only 9 months of dating!! We’ve known each other for a long time though – and we had been sort of romantically linked for much longer than 9 months.

It’ll be 3 years that we’ve lived together in our home when we get married this August. So excited!

Darling Husband and I hope to buy a house within the year (once a get a new job and we know where we’re moving).

Personally, I would never buy a house with someone I wasn’t married to.  But now that we’re married, we’re just waiting to be in a place with our jobs and such where we feel we can settle down.

I’m ready to buy a house like yesterday, but the reality is we will probably purchase a house about a year after the wedding in 2013. Booooo.

We’ve been together for 6 years and we’ve yet to buy a house. At this point in our lives, we don’t want or need the added responsibility of maintaining a house. We’re also not really sure where we’ll be living after our wedding (currently in Upstate, NY but considering moving to either Europe or the West Coast after we tie the knot).

If we decide to stay here, we’ll probably buy in the next few years but right now it’s just not something that’s important to us.

We bought our house 2 years ago, but his name is the only one on the title/mortgage.  I was getting ready to start law school so that is what made sense at the time.  I told him once I graduated and started kicking in on the mortgage I wanted my name on the title.

In the Bay Area, you need $100,000+++ to put down on a home, so it will be at least a couple of years. Prices there are starting to double dip a bit, anyway, so we feel that will make the timing perfect!

We were actively looking for a house right after we got engaged, would have done it sooner but we needed to save up money first.  Ended up buying 6 months after we got married

We would love to be able to buy a house but in the area we live in we just dont know when that will be possible. Our current house is a rental but a similar house in our neighborhood sells for $489,000. We just cant afford that! We love where we live now and in order to buy a house we would have to move really far out! Hopefully we can buy a house before we have kids but who knows.

We just bought our first home. We got engaged in November, and are getting married in July 2012. I didn’t want to do them both (home purchase and wedding) in the same year, and we didn’t want to risk the market going up and outpricing us so the timing was actually perfect!

We were together 3 years when we bought a house, but weren’t engaged.  However, we knew we would be getting married, and wrote up a legal contract in case we were to break up before marriage (since legally it can get messy).  We put down 3.5%, condo was about $315k, and we pay about the same in mortgage as we did in rent.

We bought a house 2 years ago. It was the summer after we were engaged and our lease was up on our place we were living.

We’re going to wait until after the wedding. We plan on getting a pretty good chunk of money from the Future In-Laws, (like $3k) and that will help with the down payment. Fiance also needs to have a good job too. He’s on the hunt for something, but will seriously look after the wedding. So, once those stars align, we’ll buy something. Hopefully it doesn’t take too long, because we want to start trying to have a baby pretty soon after we buy a house!
