I think it’s what you prioritize. I’ve always loved the idea of owning a Benz (I personally don’t like Cadillacs), but like you, I don’t know if I could willingly handle maintenance and I compare gas mileage to Japanese cars lol.

I’ve owned a couple of used Benzs & I do love the breed but the newer ones are trouble prone.  I find it disappointing that Benz is offering only a 3 year warranty.

As for Cadillac, I’m not a not a fan of American cars, so I can’t comment on that.

kmdunford: I also don’t like American cars, and am very very partial to Japanese makes. Between the two, I’d take the Benz.

I used to have a Mercedes and I would NEVER buy another one and especially not entry level. Their warranty is horrible and the maintenance is too much.

Forgot to add: I’m not familiar with American cars bc I’ve never owned one. I’m not sure I would compare a Cadillac to a Benz though. However, my friend had a CLS and she loved it. She now owns a Mercedes SL and loves that too though. Lol

Exactly why I went with a Lexus most recently.  It’s basically a Toyota.

sassy411:  In my DH’s words, I have a “huge boner” for Lexus. The Infiniti Q50 is sexy too.

Yeah, okay, enough hijacking.

Personally,  I would save the money and get something long-term reliable and something that can be repaired with minimal costs like Honda or Toyota.

strawbs:  Exactly why I now have a Lexus and traded my BMW for it.

I’ve never had a Benz but I used to have a BMW X5. I will never own a BMW again and it’s pretty similar to benz in regards to maintenance which is why I would never get one of those. I have a Lexus now and I love it. Fiance has an Infiniti and my next car will either be another Lexus or an Infiniti.

kmdunford:  ah okay, I thought these were your only choices. Definitely look into the Japanese makes – Nissan, Toyota, Infiniti, Lexus, Scion, Subaru etc.

Some people say they’re boring to drive, but oh the money you save not having to take them in for maintenance all the time!
