I’m from Brazil and I’m planning on going to New York in the end of this year and I want to buy my wedding dress there!
I would like to know how it works, I mean, do I have to schedule an appointment or do I just go to the store and they’ll help me? Do the stores have like Maggie Sottero dresses ready to shop or I’ll just try them on and the store will order it for me? How long does it usually take? Cause I won’t have too much time…
And are the dresses more expencives in NY than in other states?
Please help me!!!!!

You should make appointments, some places allow you to walk in (like RK Bridal, but there is no real “service”).
Some stores to consider:
- Lovely bride (not your standar dresses, but so beautiful and unique)
- Bridal Reflections (great selection)
- CYMBELINE & L’Fay
You try on sample gowns, and once you pick the one you love, they measure you and order the dress. Depending on the designer, dresses take anywhere from 3 – 7 months to come in at which point you are to go back to the salon and try on the dress again.
NYC has various price points, so there is really no set price but I would say the places I listed for you are > $1K.
Good luck and have a nice trip! 🙂

@Mimoza: Thank you!!
Do you know how long Maggie Sottero’s dresses take to come in? And do all those places you listed have Maggie Sottero?

@jessicabh: Kleinfeld’s and Bridal Reflections definitely do (although I’m not sure about the manhattan location of BR – try the Massapequa one). The other salons don’t, they have other fantastic dresses though that are worth checking out! 🙂
I ordered a maggie sottero (sottero and midgley Penelope) and they told me it takes them 6 months, so you will probably look at a similar time frame 🙂
