I’ve read a few threads on China dresses, some are awesome, some are bad. Does the seller have a lot of positive feedback? Just make sure you pay with Paypal, just in case πŸ™‚

I think it just depends on your luck and personal taste. I think the dresses fabric quality is terrible, regardless of whether or not you luck out on the structure or sewing. If you have ever seen that dress in real life and the fabric, I would never order it from China. I’d compare the China fabric more to like what you would have in a prom dress, whereas a designer wedding dress is soft…and just…gorgeous.

I had a China gown and it was exactly to my specifications, but the fabric and overall…it just wasn’t the same. I ended up buying an authentic Maggie Sottero instead. Well worth every penny in sparkle, and softness, and feel.

I didn’t mind taking the risk though. I used jeff liu, who has great reviews on eBay. The cost was very reasonable, and even after buying my Maggie I was still under budget. I’ll probably end up donating the knock off to charity. There’s no selling a knockoff :-/

the origianl you bought and the knock off……were they the same style dress?

i feel a trash the dress session might be in order, then that would keep your original dress in top condition…

@anne B- Thats a great idea i think that might be worth buying a “knock off” just for that reason!!!!

@anneb they were similar but not identical. I haven’t gotten rid of it yet, but I don’t have any attachment to it. πŸ˜› We are having a destination wedding and doing street sessions in my actual dress as part of the photography package though, and THOSE I am really excited about!! πŸ˜€

Here is my experience with ebay. I used Jeff Liu. The pics are down now but if you scroll toward the end you can see my opinion. Cry

Jeff Liu/Aprils Bridal- CHINA DRESS- is in

Here are my other two experiences with a China company.Laughing

My Dressilyme CHINA dress is ready!!!!

My Dressilyme CHINA dress is ready!!!! Part 2

Hope you get the dress your looking for. If you’d like a replica there are a ton of options. Another bee on here really loved enjoydress from ebay and another loved asap on ebay. I don’t know how far I can recommend them though since I haven’t seen many reviews.

If you search through for enjoy dress, asap, replicas, knockoff, or ebay you can see more experiences to help make your decision.

If it’s a dress that’s a few years old you could look and see if there’s anyone selling a used one cheap enough

I JUST ordered from a website that says they make replicas in Beijing.  I am thirty days from my wedding and JUST ordered it two days ago, I have a dress for back up just in case, but I was having serious dress regret and finally acted on it!  I will let you know how it turns out, it’s suposed to be here in 3 weeks.  Do you mind me asking what the name of the dress company is in China were you found your dress??
