I’m a member of same club and their alcohol actually cost more than the liquor store. If you haven’t already, price check around. Many places give a discount when buying in bulk. I think alcohol returns depend on state law. You should call customer service to be sure about your area

darian115:  I can’t see why they wouldn’t take it back, as long as it still has the seal on it, but stranger things have happened.

All you have to do is tell them that you opened one bottle and it smelled or tasted funny, and so you didn’t open any of the rest of the bottles and you want to return them.

Once you pull the “it smelled/tasted funny” card, they’ll take anything back.

Do they have Publix grocery stores in Kansas? Publix takes anything back no questions asked. I bought a bunch of wine on sale there, to stock up for the holidays. I’d never had this particular brand before and the price was amazing. On Thanksgiving day we opened up a bottle and it was nasty. A few days later I took it all back — like eight or nine bottles. I didn’t even have the receipt anymore. They gave me my money back for it, plus the bottle we’d opened and thrown away (which I totally didn’t ask them or expect them to do).

So long story short, if Costco won’t work with you, consider getting your wine from Publix. Some Publix’s also have liquor stores adjoining.

Good luck!

darian115:  We purchased from Bevmo and did not know at the time we could return unopened bottles. My aunt suggested it to us because she’s done it with Costco and not had any issues. We were able to return our unopened bottles to Bevmo as long as the seal is not broken. It was a fantastic suggestion from my aunt – we got almost $400 back!

We ended up buying fom Costco in Maui and were told we were allowed to returned them unopened with receipt within 14 days or something but ended up not needing to.

Beware though, make sure you know your guests’ drinking ability and cater accordingly! We doubled the amount that our cocktail caterer suggested for hard spirits and still came up short on rum. We later found out that people were substituting gin for rum in a different cocktail that’s why it ran out towards the end of the night.

Also be advised that it’ll be a cash transaction, we had no idea so needed to do a double take the next day as we were at our withdraw limits for the day..
