I have and my dress came to me with holes in it from their sewing machine. I then had to pay for return shipping which is international cost me $80 bucks and then I had to wait 1 1/2 months to get my money back because they said they did not receive the dress. USPS showed they attempted to deliver but no one got it… i assume it went to their post office.. they wouldnt pay me and i had proof we tried to deliver… it was a battle but finally got my money.

What about doing an alchemy request on etsy? I think etsy vendors have a better reputation that those on ebay.

I would forgo the Ebay on something important like a wedding gown, instead I would encourage you to look for some local tailors or dress makers. That way you get to see the product and make your critiques as it is getting made.

P.S. I’m uber petite too 4’11” and 115lb and it sucks being thought of as the little kid- most people still think I’m under 20.

I’m going to sound like I’m living in the last century but what’s an etsy alchemy request and how do you do it? Do you just go on the website and put in your request and then vendors find you? Does it actually work? I originally wanted to go the custom dress route but didn’t know any local seamstresses.

FutureMrs.Harless and AzinAugust – I know where you’re coming from with the looking young and not liking it, but trust me, you actually do get to a point where it’s actually cool. Yeah you do have to deal with stupid people undermining you because of how you look but that usually changes as soon as they hear you talk, and if it doesn’t just ignore them. I’m 34 and I still get carded ALL the time. And because of that I can get away with marrying a 27 year old and not look like a cougar, I don’t have to try on “mature bride” dresses and can whatever I want, and I feel I look hawt in them :). It actually gets a little bit more enjoyable each year. Oh and high school reunions feel pretty awesome too 🙂

@meliss there’s a link where you can leave a request for exactly what you want and the Etsy artists will look through them and respond to the custom requests. http://www.etsy.com/alchemy/ That’s the link.

Also good point on the looking young thing, I really don’t terribly mind it, except that I have an out of state ID so when they card me it takes like a good 2 minutes (which really isn’t bad). My Fiance is actually 7.5 years older than me, but everyone thinks he’s 27-28 when he’s with me, which he really likes. :o)
