If you don’t want to haggle, or you’re not sure about the research, buy your diamond online. You can’t get taken by sales tactics, sketchy stores, comparing apples to oranges or the 53830 other scams on 47th.

There are still deals, but  very few of us will get a real deal from the best of some of the most cutthroat jewelry sellers of the country (who have been selling sparkly carbon for generations).

I’d only buy a setting in person and get the stone online.

cabowedding2019 :  you can walk around. NYC is better when explored while walking anyway. 2 blocks isn’t far at all. I’m not sure if ring concierge only does 10k and above. But I don’t think so..

cabowedding2019 :  If you’re vacation there a while, might be worth your while to order from James Allen and ship to neighbouring state to avoid the taxes. Good luck Bee.

cabowedding2019 :

You are welcome, I am so glad this has been helpful! In my experience seeing the diamonds IRL in different lighting conditions is really the best way compared to using numbers/ ASET of buying online.

I don’t think Blue Nile offers such a service, although things might have changed and you could ask them.

Another note – if you are going with Blue Nile, try to price shop (they price match) to see what other places are selling it for (since they carry virtual inventory). I have been shopping for diamonds recently, and noticed for 3 different stones I was eyeing, Blue Nile charges 20% to 25% more than other competitors.

Several of my friends went to Hanikens in the diamond district. They seem to do well with the Irish market. Have a less pushy sales technique which works for us. Everyone has been happy with their ring.

Good luck and happy shopping!!
