My Fiance told me about the wonderful experience he had with James Allen when he purchased my engagement ring. He said he called several times to see if he could talk to a live person and was able to talk to someone each time. He said he also purchased the diamond first, checked it out at a local shop, then sent it back to have it set.

I got to experience that same superior service when I purchased my wedding band. I definitely recommend James Allen.

p.s. My Fiance also says that James Allen will buy back your diamond if you want to upgrade. πŸ˜‰

    Here is my set:

My engagement ring is from James Allen. In the end we went with them because you could see an actual photo of the diamond you are purchasing. From what I’ve read if you are after a round you can go off the specs but if you want a fancy cut it is better to see it. I have a cushion and when we saw the pic we knew it was the one, also seeing some other pics it made me realise we did really need to see it. This I think is especially true of emerald and other step cuts. Having said all this I have cushion cut diamond studs and a matching pendant from Blue Nile too and they are gorgeous. So I love both companies but feel for a major purchase like an engagement ring I would still choose James Allen, right hand ring probably Blue Nile!

Im putting in another vote for WhiteFlash. A couple weeks ago i got the center stone for my gf through them and I was pretty happy. Got a great diamond, “A Cut Above” super-ideal cut hearts and arrows. Service was pretty good. They have tons of info, measurements, ratings,  and a few pics of each  diamond on the website. They also have images showing different light patterns and whatnot for each. I also asked them on the phone if they could email me more pictures and info and they did. Their A Cut Above stones are the highest quality. The price was good, a little lower than the b&m stores but also much better quality and cut than the stores. I would recommend them.

@BlondeMissMolly:  I’ve had experience with Blue Nile. Their service is amazing. The representatives are very knowledgable and their diamonds are amazing. I haven’t deal with James Allen or WF but I’m sure they are just as great. πŸ™‚

@BlondeMissMolly:  I’ve spent years browsing Blue Nile (yeah I’m a bit obsessive), and I’ve bought some things from them, annoyed their customer service with my questions, and they’ve been nothing but wonderful. I’ve browsed James Allen before, but I find the selection to be much worse than BN, and I don’t like the site. I know that their virtual loupe tool is popular, but I’ve tried it and I don’t think it’s *that* great. Realistically you need to see the stone in person to be sure. I know BN has a great return policy. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from there.

My dearest went through James Allen–he really liked getting to see the actual diamond aspect. Apparently the customer service was great. He’s absolutely convinced that out wedding rings will be James Allen. We knew we wanted an oval and he did extensive research beyond the 4Cs for what he wanted. The bonus was the sapphire side stones–they’re gorgeous in their own right.

I have been looking at the diamonds on James Allen and when I look at vs and even vvs diamond I can see inclusions, sometimes many!  is this because their magnifying the diamond for us to see?
