Hello Hive! Yesterday I came across a wonderful vintage jewelry site called faycullen.com. After looking (ok, drooling) at many beautiful e-rings (I already have one but it’s being sized and I miss it terribly) I decided to look at wedding bands. And there it was. Perfect. Platinum and diamonds for $900. I’ve already checked and the diamonds in the band actually match the small diamonds in my ring (in respect to the color/clarity).Here is the link to the one I’m interested in.
So now to my dilemma. Should I take a risk and buy from the Internet? I am so nervous about doing this and they have a "no refund" policy. So, to all of you who have bought from online or even from this site (go check it out by the way, amaaaazing stuff): were you happy? Did you get what you expected? Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, girls!!

I have bought rings from sea of diamonds and was very happy with my purchases. Just make sure you have a jeweler measure your rings size, since there is a no return policy 🙂 Good luck and it is so pretty!

I have bought all my wedding jewelry on the internet and recommend it wholeheartedly, but I would be hesitatnt to buy from this site because of its no-return policy. That to me would be worth paying a few hundred dollars more for peace of mind to know that if it didn’t fit or if I was somehow otherwise disappointed I wasn’t out $900.

While this is certainly a nice price, the ring itself is nothing unusual. You could find this (or have it made) about anywhere. Given the no return policy, I think I would spend a little more and go elsewhere. You could end up with a lot of heartache if the ring is not right and there is nothing you can do about it, and it’s just not worth it. Of course, I’m a little prejudiced, as we had our rings made locally. We have had both of mine back for resizing, and the wedding ring has been back twice for a little rework to make it match the e-ring better. It has been fantastic to have the jeweler care enough to want to make us happy that she has not charged us anything for the extra work. The prices we paid were actually quite fair, and the service we have gotten is more than worth what we might have saved by going online.

I second suzanno’s advice. It looks like something you could buy elsewhere. The stones are G color and SI1, which is fine for small stones… if they are cut well. If not you may be disappointed with the sparkle, which is hard to tell from an internet picture.

what about buying a previously owned ring?

Fay Cullen is a reputable jeweler, and I actually fell in love with a sapphire-and-diamond engagement ring on her site. But as I investigated, I found it elsewhere online for much less, and then an almost-identical design at a local shop here in Phoenix for even less than that. The no-return policy they have would be a deal-breaker for me. The design itself is not uncommon. It won’t hurt to look elsewhere for the same or similar, either online or locally, with a better return policy.

We got my ring there – and I love it. I also smashed the absolute hell out of my ring later and they were wonderful and fixed it for almost nothing. Customer service was great! You do have a short window to return the ring if you don’t like it, but we found that the photography on the site is amazing – really true to the actual ring and we had zero complaints!
