@roxy821:  I don’t think it’s crazy. I bought maternity clothes early on just because they were more comfortable, even though my regular clothes still fit (snugly).

I wouldn’t spend a fortune, though, because you might have to buy more later in the pregnancy when you outgrow the ones you buy now.

@roxy821:  Nope, not crazy. That’s why Motherhood usually has one of those fake pregnancy bellies in the dressing room- so you can buy things early & see if they will still fit you comfortably once your belly is bigger ๐Ÿ™‚

I started wearing maternity pants a friend let me borrow pretty early in my pregnancy. Probably around 8 weeks. I still was wearing my regular jeans with the belly band but that soon got very uncomfortable because there was no give with my jeans! I’m also only 5’1 so I started showing pretty eary and wanted to be comfortable. I’d say get a few things but just don’t go crazy because you will probably grow fast ๐Ÿ™‚

Totally not crazy. Everyone’s body is different! I have one friend who is 2 months ahead of me and is still not wearing maternity clothes. She’s a skinny mini and her bump is pretty high. She also feels comfortable with buttoning her pants below her belly which I’m just not a fan of.

I have another friend who is only about 2 weeks ahead of me, and she started wearing maternity clothes at 10 weeks. She just felt more comfortable b/c she had a ton of bloat. Why be uncomfortable when you don’t have to be?

I’ve started wearing maternity tops, b/c my boobs are just enormous. I’m at 14 weeks, and while my pants are fitting a bit snugger, I can still wear most of them. I have a feeling that won’t last much longer!

I’m only wearing maternity jeans at 19 weeks. I belly band my work pants still. I’m trying to avoid spending a lot on clothes in general. I may scout out some longer tops, but overall, I’m still wearing most of my regular clothes.

I used to wait  until I was past 3 months before buying anything maternity or baby.

I don’t think it’s crazy. I’m in maternity clothes off and on and I’m 11 weeks! Like you, not sure what’s bloat and what’s baby but whatever it is never goes away. Having something tight on my stomach makes me feel nauseous. I’ve bought a few pieces, mostly dresses since I know that I’ll be pregnant mostly in the summer months and loose dresses usually have more room for the bump to grow.

My boobs are also absolutely ginormous and too big for my normal tops.

@roxy821:  I bought some at 6 weeks because I got a belly really quickly alot of which I think as bloat but I am so gald I bought some maternity jeans then because I was so much more comfortable.

@Running Elley:  Totally frustrating, right?!? I think you and I have the same type of frame and it’s just insane.

@roxy821:  I still say do whatever you’re comfortable with doing! At 13 weeks, my doc told me that my uterus was just around the top of my pelvic bone. I was like, “What? Then what’s all of this other crap up here?!?” A combination of bloat, your insides being pushed up to make room for your uterus and unfortunately, the 4 pounds I’ve gained :o(

I took advantage of a really great day after Christmas sale, so I’ve been wearing maternity jeans since about 8 weeks. I didn’t need them, exactly, like you, some of my low-rise jeans still fit (but were uncomfortably cutting by the end of the day) but I wanted to be comfortable. My boobs still haven’t grown much, so I didn’t really need maternity shirts until recently, after I popped.

Do note, though, that you might need more pants later…my ass popped out when my belly did, so the jeans I bought after Christmas don’t fit as well. Also, at that time I bought the under-belly pants, because I thought there was no way I’d ever want to wear the full-panel pants…and now I pretty much live in the full-panel, because they are so much more comfortable. With the under-belly panel, though, you can’t tell they’re maternity jeans, so unless my ass decides to stay this size I should be able to wear them post-partum.

not crazy at all! I am almost 8 weeks and I just bought some maternity stuff from Old Navy that was on sale, it was so cheap and figured it would be perfect for the summer months when it is so hot out. I just bought some basic t-shirts that looked comfy and some tanks. I am going to hold off on buying maternity pants for as long as possible- I’d love to get away with wearing empire waist and sundresses all summer with a cardigan for work, that way I wont have to spend tons of money on maternity clothes. do what you feel comfortable with though- some people never end up wearing maternity clothes while others are in them early on, it’s all up to you ๐Ÿ™‚
