I’m going to David’s Bridal in 2 weeks and I’m nervous. I’ve got a ver small budget and I’m terrified about now finding a dress. So I’ve decided to buy my dress online if I can’t find one at David’s. The website I’m going to buy it from can do custom sizing for free. I need advise please

soontobemrsbrowning: Most of the online stores are replica dressmakers of dubious quality. Neither their fabric or workmanship are great quality. If you are ok with that, and possible disappointment, then go ahead.
Otherwise I would find something you can afford that you can see and touch. You could buy a white bridesmaid or prom dress. They are usually much less expensive. You could also buy a pre-owned dress.

soontobemrsbrowning: I would not order online for reasons PP already stated. Is DB going to be your first time trying on dresses? If so, I recommended to go to a bridal shop try on dresses there and if you find one that you like try finding it on one of the resale sites. A lot of the time they will be NWT. Also, every bridal shop has sale dresses that are heavily discounted. I just think DB’s quality isn’t so great and that a first time a bride goes to try on dresses should be magical. Good Luck!

Not saying this is true for everyone but…
I work at a small boutique and I get so many brides who come in and actually already purchased a gown. Long story short they thought the same as you and bought from an online shop. As the PP stated most shops are replica stores that steal designers photos and make you believe you are getting the real deal. Anyways these brides that come in bought online and 1) don’t get a dress at all, it never comes 2) it looks nothing like they thought because it is a cheap knock-off.
There are pretty good custom shops out there however you usually end up paying the same amount as a decent mid-range gown you could find in person at a shop where you can see it in person and know what you are getting.
Tread lightly, if it is too good to be true it probably is. Don’t waste your money on a bad online dress, mostly because you usually can’t get your money back, and invest it a dress where you know what you are getting. You don’t want to be like one of my many brides who got jipped online and ended up having to buy a whole new dress.
What’s your budget? Maybe I can make some suggestions.
