@JennyChicago:

IDK, but when I have responded to any Long Distance ad,  I ask to pay via paypal, because I think it protects against someone else getting my financial information.  I haven’t had a problem, except 2 times through ebay, but nothing too major of a loss. I hope that helps.  I think there is another type of financial program that is similar, but I don’t recall what it is.

I haven’t purchased through the classifieds, yet, but if I do, I will only use PayPal, just in case something would go wrong. I have something listed in the classifieds and I will only accept PayPal. It protects both the seller and the customer. If for some reason you pay and don’t get your item(s), you can contact PayPal and they will investigate and refund you.

I purchased through the classified and used paypal. I never had any problems.

There are scams through paypal where people make forgeries of the confirmation e-mails saying that they paid. She would have had to logged into paypal to make sure or contact them to verify it was actually made through them.

When I used the classifieds, I paid with PayPal – it’s very secure, and they’re great about getting you your money back if something goes wrong.

I’ve used the WB classifides 3 or 4 times (oops…can’t remember for sure) and I never questioned it, I used PayPal each time and received my items really quickly. I actually had one of the girls email me a week later and make sure the things I bought from her came in 🙂

I would not be comfortable paying by certified check, unless it was a local transaction where you would exchange the check for whatever you are purchasing, but that is just me.

You could make a veil. That is what I did.

I would never pay by certified check.  If you do, and the seller doesn’t send the promised item, you have no way to get your money back.

I have used PayPal for all of my transactions, whether as buyer or as seller.  It means no one can get my financial information, and that if there is a problem with not getting something (or with it not being as promised), I have some recourse.

Have you checked websites like preownedweddingdresses.com or oncewed.com? Many of them sell things like veils and accept PayPal or hold your money in escrow until you have received the goods, and only then transmit it securely to the seller.

Just as a note, if you DO get scammed on the WB classifieds, please please please let someone know – WB isn’t responsible for your loses, but I’m pretty sure the moderators wouldn’t want someone who is scamming our users to keep operating via our classifieds. So PM a moderator or hostess or someone to let us know if something goes incredibly awry. 🙂
