(Closed) Buying the bra before the fitting?

I would suggest having the undergarments for the fittings. They can really change what needs to be altered.

Yes, absolutely.  Undergarments can absolutely change how a garment fits.  Bring them with you to your first fitting!

I agree with PP, most definitely bring undergarments you plan to wear the day of the wedding, to all dress fittings.

I bought my garments ahead of time, it actually worked against me and made me almost give up on the dress. Some bras/corsets may shape you nicely but actually make you wider than you are and I couldn’t zip up. BUT I had very little “give” room in my dress because it was used from someone else. If you have a brand new dress that needs to be taken in, I say go for it.

@HobbyLobbyist:  I know you said that you were going to go ahead and buy the corset, but I wanted to go ahead and throw in my two cents. Having worked at a bridal salon that had in house alterations, you should have all undergarments, shoes, etc for your alterations appointment. A different bra, no bra, slip, or shoes could make a huge difference in how your alterations go. Our seamstress wouldn’t touch a dress without the proper undergarments so that if the fit got changed later it didn’t reflect poorly on her work.
